ummmm... heh heh, just wondering, how does the sega cd model 1 work? I wanna put in a cd, so I removed the cart from the slot, plug all wires including the plugs (derp) and all I get is screen,



then when I restart the genesis, I get this text



So my question is, how do I get the cd tray to open? lol

I did push restart and all I get the the second picture of my first post, the tray doesn't open

When you pressed reset did you get a grinding/clicking noise... if so, the gears might be misaligned causing the tray to not open - mine does this regularly. You might just open up the unit and check the gears regardless.

I get that noise sometimes as well. But it always has opened and closed as it should regardless. For referense.

Yeah, from the bios screen I can tell that's a model 1 SegaCD and those things love to have problems with the tray. From your description it sounds like as someone else mentioned the gear for the tray are out of whack. Normally if you take it apart slowly to diagnose where the problem is, you can fix the issue.

But quick question, is the system doing the full attract mode with the spinning logos and rocking music?

I can't tell if it's coming into view from your screenshots.

NOPE All I get is the picture of the 1st Picture, it doesn't do sega dances or music, I REALLY WANNA PLAY PIER SOLAR WITH THE BURN CD to fully enjoy it.

If you're not getting the attract mode, then the ribbon might be disconnected from the laser assembly in the unit itself. Either way I think you're going to need to open it up and take a look.

I hope its a simple fix like the sega model 2 cd, just a quick fuse burn out or something, are all sega cd dying so soon?

Well, I opened it, (god what is it with sega and screws?) and I honestly don't know what the problem is, look for yourself

Oh great, after getting music now as well as the dacning sega logo, the sega cd deson't work anymore after I reseted, I'm guessing the goddamn fuse has finally blown
