Default The Secret of Monkey Island

There's no denying that people love pirates. Johnny Depp is laughing all the way to the bank thanks to that fact, but gamers have also benefitted from the public's obsession with wench-groping, ale-swizzling rogues. Why, the Sega CD alone got one of the best pirate adventures in history, The Secret of Monkey Island, which we happen to have a full review of this week. Read it or walk the plank, ya mangy landlubber!

I've heard that it has long load times too, and that's everywhere it appears.
The smell of scorched oil hangs in the air as a premonition of danger, while the engine gloriously shouts its war cry...

Throughout history, suspicion has always bred conflict. The real conflict, though, resides in people's hearts. This conflict has just begun.

YES. Monkey Island in any incarnation is a big plus, and this was one of my most-wanted Sega CD games as a kid, right behind Sonic CD, and...inexplicably, Time Gal.

Everyone makes mistakes. But Monkey Island is gold.

I'm not sure how you can do a review on this game and NOT mention the load times. They were pretty bad, especially in comparison to other CD titles. I never played the PC version, but I imagine you'd have to REALLY love this game or the Sega CD to plow through this game with the constant stop and go theme of the game.

on the subject of loading times, I dont know if Id be willing to sit through the loading times of this game but I do love it so I may have to get it. It would have been cool if they added full voice like the Sega CD version of Willy beamish. I think there should have been more adventure games like this on the SCD. Alot of lucasarts adventure games got ported to Turbo Grafx CD like Loom, for instance. Which is odd because that was the LEAST popular adventure game (at that time, anyway)

Only a couple of adventure games got ported to Turbo CD. I did love Loom, though.

I love the Monkey Island games and I have beaten the first 2 on PC. I don't see any reason to play them on MCD with load times and no mouse. These point and click adventure games just thrived on the PC back then.

yeah I also find it strange when these type of point and click PC games get ported to home console.
