    Hey djshok,

I was so happy with how the 32X work you did turned out when I printed it it and put it in a box that I picked up a few loose Genesis carts thinking I'd just print some scans from TCP and put them in boxes (Shining Force, Sagaia, Super Monaco GP and SoR3). Sadly, there is no scan for Sagaia, Monaco GP is just the EU MD version and all the other ones are for the universal game cases. Would it take much effort for me to convert the UCG prints to original versions?* Just wondering if you'd know how to do that before I start experimenting. I would also virtually bow before you if you got a Sagaia scan in the net (if that's even possible for you! And I know.... you are just focusing on games that just came in cardboard).

I'm also thinking, for the amount of ink that is used, it might be just worth it to wait for boxed copies of games instead of grabbing loose ones. Ink is expensive!

*I printed the Shining Force one for the UCG and it is 99% the same size as the Genesis original, so there really is no issue there. Cool!

Glad you like the covers! It's really easy to resize UGC formatted stuff to Sega clamshell size, you just need to open it up in an image editor like photoshop and change the dimensions to 10.627" x 6.733"

If I ever find a Sagaia scan I can make a cover for it. I haven't found one yet though

As for ink being expensive, yeah it varies depending on what printer you use. I'd suggest printing from a laser printer, at that point it'll be almost free since those take a loooong time to run out of toner. If you don't have one then try a print shop in your area, it shouldn't cost more than $1 per page, plus they usually have high quality commercial printers.

This is a Darius II flyer but this is the art used in the Sagaia front cover. If you have the Genesis badges and logos... Dunno about the back cover.

    EDIT: US arcade flyer

Kick ass!! Thanks man! I can totally work with that. I'm pretty backlogged now, but give me about a week and I'll have something for you.

In hopes of encouraging scans for inserts for Action 52, Double Dragon and Warpspeed to come out of the woodwork, I was going to scan the near-mint copy of Budokan I just got, which came in a cardboard box. But it looks like there's a very nice scan of the PAL version, which apparently came in a clamshell, here. Was there a US release in a clamshell?

BTW there are a few scans of the front of the Warpspeed box floating around online, but nothing hi-res and nothing of the back cover. I might PM a member who has Warpspeed, and ask that person if a scan might be possible.

    Sonic

They have a nice 3D Blast cover at thecoverproject.net, I can resize it for a Genesis clamshell and link it here for you guys.

EDIT: You know what, fuck it, I don't really like the Genesis template they use over there, I'll just remake the cover and post it up, maybe I'll even make an alternate version that uses the ugly PAL art lol.

Can't believe I held off asking this long: Sonic Generations? Not that the cover's bad, but you can do better.

I got a bunch of these a few months ago:

Now I don't know if these clamshells are REAL real, but they're real enough that they're virtually indistinguishable from the official Sega clamshells. I can't tell the difference anyway. Right down to the stiffness of the plastic, the rough feel of the cover sleeve and even the Sega seal sticker. If you're looking for quality replacements, I can highly recommend these.

Like for the PS3 you mean? I've never made a cover for any of the new systems. Not to say that I expect it to be difficult or anything, I'm just gonna have to look into getting templates, etc...

Should just be a bluray box. Yes it was the PS3 I had in mind; don't know whether the 360's differs. Are you familiar with the game? (Thought I saw you praise it under Melf's column). If not I can't recommend it enough.
    Thanks and good luck.

Oh yeah, I've beaten the hell out of it! Love that game, I actually thought of making a custom cover myself too, but just haven't had much time lately. Good thing you want the PS3 version too, because that's what I have it for. Not sure, how soon it will be done, but I'll definitely give it a go when I get a chance.

I have the 360 version, and I'm pretty sure it's the same as the PS3 version as far as box art is concerned.

Actually, what would be even cooler, is if you made a double wide DVD box label, in the style of the classic genesis games. Preferably the silver-and-black graphpaper design.

That way the case could still hold our games, but it'd look like a genesis title.
