Default Curiosity killed the cat: quick question about Mega CD/SEGA CD

For purely cosmetic purposes, can you swap the front panel of a model 1 US SEGA CD and put it on a JP Mega CD?

I ask this because I have a broken SEGA CD, and I would consider buying any Model 1 from anywhere in the world, although I prefer the looks of the US one; so I'd swap, even though I know the BIOS (and the region) will be different.

The JPN Mega CD has more lights on the front panel, so there would be the issue of obscuring those.

There are not more lights , Just that the JP and Pal versions also have a small display of text/pictures telling you what the actual lights mean (they are not actual lights) All Models only have the Red and Green access lights.

Also, other than that; let's say I do prefer the US BIOS but don't want to mod. The issue with my US SCD is the infamous CD tray not latching on to eject properly. Are they all made of the same pieces, so I can buy an EU MCD and take the CD tray assembly pieces off to put on the US one?
