the rain stage and the flashlight stage are enough to warrant a better graphical evaluation of Robo Aleste over MUSHA
    it's also more challenging
and the soundtrack is infinitely better (the music in MUSHA is way overrated)
    both are good games though

I can totally understand that. It's a good piece of manly Japanese mech art.

But I kind of like the goofy vibe, from the JP one. It reminds me of Appleseed. Like I said though, I can see why we got the other one.

As a kid, I would have been like "what the hell is up with this?", to the JP cover. I think i'm just getting a little tired of how dark all games are getting. But that's another topic.

The music goes a long way for me when it comes to shooters. And I really don't care for the music in MUSHA, it doesn't do much to hype me up for robot shooting action. RA not only has better quality music because of the CD medium but I find the compositions are more interesting. I also like the weapons in RA more than MUSHA, they seem more useful and I actually find myself using more than one of them. Lastly the enemies look cooler in terms of design. The MUSHA enemies look kinda cheesy. This could all just be a matter of personal preference.

i grew up with robo aleste, and when i play them side by side, i find musha to be much easier. the robo aleste levels are more drab and realistic, but i think it just makes the whole experience less "prismatic", which I think fits the subject matter a bit more than bright prismatic colors. they're both top notch games, but something about vertical scrolling shooters on a horizontal screen bothers the hell out of me.

and yeah, dude's shitty attitudes like agostinhobaroners are the reason why i dont join forums much, if i wanted to hear a bitchy twat, i'd call my ex fiancee. i hope you're not somebody's boss in real life.

To paraphrase Phil Ken Sebben, in regards to the box art.

I enjoy both games, MUSHA has some nice graphical nuances and runs very fast for a sega genesis game and the music is very good, the stage two music is still stuck in my head. Me personally, I enjoy Robo Aleste more because the power ups are automatic, the story is more fleshed out, the music is cd quality, and the graphics are better than most will give credit. Some of the last few stages have some amazing visuals with lots of intricate detail going on in the backgrounds and the sprites are all very nice.

I would consider both games to be a dead even tie though, each one utilizes the capabilities of the respective hardware and both are an absolute blast to play. If anything though, you could say that the graphics in MUSHA stand out simply due to the limitations presented with the genesis but I wouldn't consider either one ugly. I did have some trouble discerning some of the bullets on the screen with MUSHA though.

Did you really expect anything more from Tengen?
    The internet doesn't apply here.

Tengen did NOT programmed a single line of Robo Aleste. It's just the publisher...
The game is from Compile as long as M.U.S.H.A. is also from Compile and not from Seismic...

Renovation never programmed any game either...
