I voted "Super Mario RPG". Paper Mario was okay, but I almost feel asleep playing it. On the other hand, Super Mario RPG was lots of fun. I always loved how you could time your punches to do extra damage. It definitely added that uniqueness that set it apart from all the other Super Mario games.

Is this still Paper Mario on GC? There's also one each for the 64 and Wii.

I'm voting for Paper Mario, simply because Super Paper Mario is part of the sub-franchise.

Paper Mario, obviously. Going back to SMRPG just isn't much fun for me anymore, and each time I'm reminded that we got that instead of Secret of Mana 2 it makes me a little sad. Paper Mario is a lot more fun to me, the battle system is great, and I love all of the partners you get. It actually feels like a Mario game as well. Super Mario RPG is in my opinion one of the most overrated games on the SNES, not a bad game but definitely not a great one either; just an average, generic RPG that they dumped a handful of Mario characters into. And considering the other games that Square released around that time and shortly after, it definitely doesn't stack up very well. I do really like the soundtrack, though. It is very well done.

Paper Mario, on the other hand, I think is absolutely one of the best games on the 64. Same would go for the sequel on the GC. Of course this is all just my opinion. But I honestly think Paper Mario is a much better game. One of the few Nintendo developed games that I would say I love almost as much as some Sega games!

Complete bullshit. Everyone blames that on Secret of Evermore. Truth is they only had 1 team working on SuperMarioRPG. The game came out in Japan in America at near the same time. Also SOE was made by a completly different American team. The reason we didnt get SOM2 is because they didnt bring it over here. No game stopped it from coming out. Just like all the other Square games we missed. They simply didnt bring the out here because they didnt want to.

Also you're saying games Square released shortly after SMRPG. Yeah in america is was their last game for the Snes so no clue what you're talking about there. The only game that came out after super mario rpg was treasure hunter G and what a absolute pos that was. Rudra came out right before it and, the reason it didnt come out over here is because of how hard it was to translate the magic system.

Where are you getting your facts from?

I can't choose. Super Mario RPG and the first two Paper Mario games are all excellent. SMRPG may be extremely easy, but it certainly has a charm to it with nice (for the time) graphics and good music. It always felt like more of a "beginner's JRPG" than Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest ever was. Paper Mario is good for all the reasons Jerry mentioned. As a series it really stands out with all of it's unique features and innovations with JRPGs.

My selling thread, a loose Suikoden II, lots of PS1 stuff, a sealed Primal Rage 32X, a CIB SMS system and more!
