In honor of this thread above, I thought this would also be a great comparison of SNK vs. Capcom.
Fatal Fury:Mark of the Wolves is the easy choice for me.

This is like Diamonds vs Rubies they're both amazing. As far as ultimate package Wolves wins. It beats out 3rd strike in everything. Roaster, presentation and just over all technical merit. Plus 3rd strike is fun to play but MoTW is way better game. Its not based off a gimmick its just solid fun.
Ooooooooh, this is a tough one.....
SF3: Third Strike may be the best 2d fighter ever made, so I'm giving it the nod. But I adore FF: Mark of the Wolves. Both sit proudly in my dreamcast collection.
Mark of the Wolves is the greatest fighting game ever made.
This thread needs more...ENGINEERS
Never liked SF3 and found Garou MOTW's artstyle depressing, but if i had to choose I'd go for Garou.
I should play it sometime, just put it in my cab actually..
Can't decide; both are awesome games. I've played 3rd Strike more, but I find Garou to be a work of art (the gameplay; as someone posted above; the art's bland). It's a tie for me.
Garou definitely had subdued backgrounds, but the animations were top notch and a true testament to what the Neo Geo could potentially accomplish. That you would even consider comparing it to a CPS-III (which came out close to a decade later) game is proof of that. Not to mention, SF III was kind of a letdown on release, which probably helps Garou more than it hurts SF III. As much as I like playing SF III, I'm gonna have to go w/ Garou on this one.
You can never have enough
Never had the chance to play either of them for more than an hours.
Both games suffered from being released at a time when everything had to be 3D, so they kind of went largely unnoticed. Later the PS2 port of SF III was cut out from the European Anniversary Edition, so the game is not available here for the mainstream to this day.
I only hear the greatest things about both games´ gameplay though. Definitely twogames I am looking to get as japanese imports in the future.
3rd Strike is one of my favorite 2d fighters. Never got to play MOTW because it didnt come out in the US on PS2. I prolly shoulda got it on Dreamcast but I was too lazy to look for it.
Third Strike is the second best 2D fighter (after SFA2) ever so it has my vote. Garou is great though.

I said 3rd Strike. I never quite got into Garou like I should have, but 3rd Strike just seemed fresh to me, after seeing nothing but SF2 and SFA knockoffs. Can't exactly say it's the better game, but I've put more effort into learning it.
