Thumbs down GenMobile won't play cartridges?

Yes I know these things suck by nature, but my little nephew got one and we're trying to get it to play cartrdiges and it just won't. Is there some trick to making it recognize that a cart is inserted. I tried 10 different cartridges (all clean and in great shape) and it just goes to the main menu every time where it lets you select the preloaded games. It doesn't even seem to recognize that a cart is plugged in.... Is this thing just busted? Please help.

And yes I know the AtGames GenMobile is a POS, but it's not mine I just wanna help a fellow gamer out.

Did you try moving the region switch?

Did you clean those carts thoroughly? I suggest getting one and running a q-tip end drenched in ethanol 91%. It should work then.

Yeah they're super clean and well maintained carts. Is the region switch the little black thing on the bottom that you need to insert a pin into to move?

Maybe contact ShatGames and let them know about this, if the games for sure aren't the problem.

The region switch is confusing to me though. On a normal Genesis, that shouldn't stop you from playing the many region free games. It would sure be weird if every single one of your games required a US region Genesis.

My selling thread, a loose Suikoden II, lots of PS1 stuff, a sealed Primal Rage 32X, a CIB SMS system and more!

Well it turns out you have to jam the games in there really hard. the cart holder is super tight, like "will likely break your cartridge tight" so we tried that, managed to get 2 games to work on it... Then when trying to take a cart out the second time the damn thing broke and wouldn't turn on again.

    What. A. Piece. Of. Shit.

I felt bad and gave my nephew my spare model 3 that I wasn't using. But man seriously, wtf, those Genmobile things are even worse than I ever imagined.

Sounds like it was bad to begin with, and shoving the cart in there extra hard was barely overcoming the problem. I've a GenMobile and it handles carts no problem... and you don't need to break it to insert carts. You should have just exchanged it for a good one.

Only issue witht he genmobile is the sound quality. It is better than a nomand in every other way. Battery life, better screen and much better form factor.

I Belive the Nomad is fully compliant sega hardware genesis where genmobile is a genesis in a chip console. Which one I'd support? And you can mod Nomad with better and lowpower screen and add lithium accu into it and what ever. You get atleast 12hours of gameplay from Nomad if you do all the mods that is.

Be true to yourself. GFX doesn't matter, the game does. If you are intrested to donate one NTSC Genesis for hardware testing purposes, please pm me.

A modded Nomad is best, but I'd NEVER give a modded Nomad to a kid. The GenMobile and RetroGen handhelds are good enough to "throw away" on your little kids. They PROBABLY can't break the carts, and the rest is cheap enough that you won't care when the kid eventually breaks it.

Half correct. The Nomad is an entire Genesis Model 2 crammed into that giant brick(with a better audio amp, thank God), but the GENMobile is a piece of shit Titan ARM core running the worst Genesis software emulator in existence. If you want a small portable Genesis, you'd be better off just getting a Yobo FC3 Plus on the cheap, ripping out the Genesis board and making a portable yourself(that uses a pure GOAC, though from what I've seen on my FC3 Plus, the GOAC uses external RAM chips like on the Genesis 3). You'll be spared the compatibility problems and horrid sound of the GENMobile(and yes, it CAN play Virtua Racing, although the older models of the FC3 Plus don't).

Except if I did have kids, I'd never do such a thing. If anything, I would use the GOAC from a Genesis/NES 2-in-1 clone or an FC3 Plus to make a portable as big as the GENMobile for them.

Well, most people can't do that. They CAN pick up an AtGames clone in Walgreens for $30.

I just wish these Titan clones had an SDK for doing native apps. If they can handy a MD emulator to the level they do, native games would be AWESOME!

Except I CAN'T do that because not a single place I've been to around here carries any AtGames clone nor does Walgreens exist in Canada(from my knowledge, at least). For me, it'd be easier to build a portable Genesis from a GOAC-based Geniclone as they're readily available.

I can also add that I've never seen a Walgreens before either, however I have seen products advertised on TV that name that store as a place it's available at, but that's about it.
