I´d redesign the 64XX in order to meet with the Model 1 design.
Could we design a single power supply to power all of it, one thing less for AVGN to moan at.
As for marketing I'm thinking of an elephant stomping all over smaller animals to highlight the sheer size and scale.
Hate to break it to you guys but I have been working on this for months and already have a working prototype:

There have been a few delays due to time spent on my SMS add-on (the Super 16X) but will be taking pre-orders soon.
so you are basically taping a IBM PC compatible device on a SMS/MD/32X ?

I think that 64XX design should have a lunchbox handle added just like the Gamecube, for extra portability.
For the 64X I have chosen to use non-proprietary parts to keep costs and development time down.
At the moment the software (Ubuntu 11) runs entirely on the x86 side but as soon as I have built a USB-cartslot adapter I will add support for using the 32X/MD VDPs and the controllers.
COM port would be a better choice for connecting things together, when it comes to software, both PC and MD side. LPT would be even better but I think the PC you use does not have it. You also lose uniqueness, as you can use any PC with right software instead of the addon thing, and most people will probably ditch the MD side completely as there really is no point in using that part...

Are we really on this stupid ass shit again!? Why do we need to come up with new and pointless ways that Sega shoulda done this or that?
MD/32X adds the controllers and several background layers, especially when upsampled to 640*480 using software interpolation. (This also means that the 64X will be able to enhance all existing MD/32X games). My idea is to use USB as a virtual COM port, it is more complicated but I think it will be worth it in the end.
blurring filters are not my idea of enhancing :P
video capture is going to be a problem, mainly because they cannot work without assuming interlaced input, so lot of coming artifacts, or more blurring by deinterlacing crap

I guess that explains why the video never looked quite right, that is too bad I was hoping for an extra 4-5 layers of parallax =/
At least I can still mix the audio from the headphone jack to the line-in and use the controllers, though. Especially if I can add support for the Sega Mouse and Mega Net Keyboard I have some ideas for Genesis MMORPGs using the ethernet connection on the Pico motherboard.
