Default eBay: 88 Saturn Games (was "Vectrex: System, Controller, Box/Styrofoam") [USA 91107]

    On eBay:

88 Sega Saturn games, all tested (a couple tested to be bad...), mostly JP imports. A few US titles in there.

    Thanks,
    -Jason

    On eBay:

1 - Vectrex system: super clean, wonderful condition, tested working perfectly, 3 manuals (no controller)

2 - Controller: clean, great condition, tested working perfectly

3 - Box & 2 styrofoam inserts: clean, great condition

    Thanks,
    -Jason

Selling the box, the controller and the system in seperate auctions?

    That's low, low, man.

Raul does not smile upon you.

I've already received some questions asking why I split up the auction.

    My rationale:

I considered selling the items together, but decided against that for a couple of reasons:

1 - I've never had a box & styrofoam before & was concerned that shipping the heavy Vectrex in the box & then protecting the box in packing material inside a larger shipipng box might damage the Vectrex box. I feel that shipping the Vectrex box empty (or near-empty) inside a bigger shipping box will ensure that the Vectrex box is quite safe during shipping. Further, I've shipped & received several "naked" Vectrexes & know that a ton of bubble wrap all around them will protect them well--I'm sticking with what I know.

2 - I know lots of collectors will be interested in getting just the controller and/or box without wanting to buy the whole shebang & pay the hefty shipping to ship an unwanted system too. Many people want just a replacement or 2nd controller, & many people would want just the box for their collection. I suppose some others might want a replacement console to replace their broken one, too...

3 - If a bidder wants 2 or all 3 of the items, he can bid on which one(s) he wants & if he wins more than 1, I'll be accommodating & put them together & price the shipping accordingly.

    Thanks,

    -Jason

PS--I'm still trying to see if I can get a Minestorm overlay to add to the console auction to make it more complete. If I can get one soon, I'll cancel auctions & relist accordingly.

[edited to expand upon my rationale]

Raul wanted me to let everybody know that the Vectrex box/styrofoam & Vectrex controller auctions end today. Raul further indicated that the Vectrex system auction was ended early.

    Tough crowd.

How about 88 Saturn games lumped into 1 lot? Can't get much lumpier than that!

$68 for the controller alone is so ridiculous for Vectrex. I know they're hard to find alone and all, but the system only goes for $80-100!

Smart move selling the box and controller separate though, $96 for the box and foam is a nice profit.

Some may say "smart". Some may say "greedy".

I did end up getting different buyers for all 3 auctions. I sold the system right away to somebody who had a system already but wanted a nicer one.

I had a fellow on AtariAge ask me to sell him just the styrofoam bits, minus the box. I thought that would be breaking it down just a little too far. Plus, the auction was almost over at that point, with bids already on it.

As for the controller, I know what you're saying--they often go for very high prices, almost the same as the price of a system + controller. I chalk it up to my hunch written above, that shipping costs on the heavy system is a deterrent when you want only some lighter portion of it. For my auctions, I like to take lots of thorough pictures & even videos where applicable to detail an item's functionality. Looking at completed auction prices on Vectrex controllers, I see the following:

$140 for controller + Minestorm overlay w/ pouch. Controller marked as "new" in title, which sounds little funny...
$130 for controller new in box
    $68 for mine
$58 for 2 (one tested, one untested w/ broken gimbal spring on joystick)
    $37 for 1
    $55 for 1

It must have been deleted by now, but I thought I saw an auction for 2 controllers end in the $200 neighborhood (hazy memory--could be totally wrong).

My last Vectrex sale was for a decent system+controller with some cosmetic flaws & a controller that I resurrected from the dead (both the internals & the shell) for $100 cash, for reference. And my previous sale was for a decent system+controller in good condition for $80-90 cash.

    Thanks,
    -Jason

I love how the lynch mob comes out to chastise someone for wanting to make a profit on gaming merchandise.

Everyone has done it, and there is nothing wrong with it.

If someone here finds a copy of Earthbound in a thrift store for $5, and doesn't give a shit about the game, their ass is going to buy it and resell it.

It makes me laugh, almost as much as when booger-eating mouth breathers criticize someone's gaming collection as "hoarding".

    Hey JDB!

My 88-game Sega Saturn lot didn't sell.

Got any compassionate or pitying or reassuring Rauls for me?

    Thanks in advance,
    -Jason
