ISO is a disc image format, not a file format. ISO has ALL the files in it, be they ELF or music or binary data or anything else. IF AR or GS2 runs from a single self-contained ELF file, you would have to extract it from the ISO. There are a number of apps for the PC that allow you to read/write files on ISO images. Use one of those to check the content of your ISO.

If ELF is anything like .GCN, then it's just ISO with a different file name extension.

Probably not a helpful post, but it's vaguely related to 6th gen emulation.

...wrong. Completely wrong. ELF is an executable format, while ISO is a disc image. Nothing to do with each other. If anything, you would find an ELF as one of the files in an ISO.

On a side note, PCE CD games use the "ISO" label for the data track dump format. But it's not really ISO. There's no file structure. BITD, ISO mean 'cooked' and BIN meant raw ('cause almost everything out there was in ISO9660 format). So the PCE data tracks were saved as 'cooked' format, FAT system be damned. BIN 99.999% of the time means a raw dump of the whole CD when accompanied/associated with a CUE file.

Then I shall stop talking about PS2 emulation then.
