Default CD Backup Ram Cart does not work

I just got one of these CD Backup Ram Carts but I cant seem to get it to work. Were they region locked? I have a pal mega drive 2 and the cartridge is from USA. I hold down A B C when I turn on the system and nothing happens. Both the power is connected to the megadrive and sega cd. I get no menu options to access the ram cart.

I have tried using the cartridge with the Pro Action Replay 2 but nothing even boots when I turn the system on.

it might work, it might not, but try taping off pin B32 on the cartridge (far right, lable side).

that's the "Cartridge Detect" pin, and i don't think the RAM carts use it (so that way the Sega CD can boot up)

They shouldn't be region locked... On the Model 2, take this advice:

I misread his thing.. it was only a blank boot with the action replay.. i don't think the RAM cart is meat to go through an action replay, which the action replay is triggering Cartridge Detect, which would make a lot of sense...

Hi, I only tried using the Action Replay after it didn't work, the normal way.

I have to dig up one of my mega cd games from storage. The only disc I had was a jap import game which I just bought...which of course didn't work because of the region locking. Maybe thats why the Backup Cartridge didn't work and I couldn't access the menus.

Is there a battery in the Backup Cartridge?

There is a bettery in it.
If it's dead, it's likely anything you put on it/formatting will just die when you power off.

It's also likely that leaving it in a powered up console overnight will charge it.
