    Default World Heroes CD

I've read online that the first World Heroes video game was going to be released on the Mega CD/Sega CD, under the title World Heroes CD, before being cancelled. I am not sure why the game was cancelled, though. From what I can gather, Funcom was the developer of the port (the same company that brought us the Sega Mega CD ports of Fatal Fury Special and Samurai Shodown.) Are there any images of the Mega CD/Sega CD port of World Heroes? Is there any video footage of this port? I first heard about WH CD while reading one of the interviews (I don't remember the name of the person being interviewed) on this website. If anyone is willing to provide answers to the previously mentioned questions, that'd be great.

I think during a certain period of Genesis's lifecycle almost every game was a candidate to be released on Sega CD/Mega CD and I'm willing to bet World Heroes is one these games. But as with most of the other Sega CD's games that canned, it was probably ported over to a cartridge when they realised that the Sega CD didn't take off as was expected.

I don't think the port ever got off the ground, so I doubt that there's any images. And for good reason too, because WH was SNK's third-tier fighting game series, few cared about it outside of the Neo.

It's possible that time as well as the popularity of the game played a part. If it was Funcom that were going to do the port it could be assumed that the release was to be after Shodown and Fatal Fury. By that time the Sega CD had little life left in it and it seems likely that, seeing as the Wondermega/X'Eye would also be shortly discontinued, JVC simply decided that funding another port was a waste of money. As far as I can tell JVC were to Sega CD publishing like Panasonic were with the 3DO: they only got into publishing to support their own licensed hardware, and simply quit the business when the potential future sales from that hardware were limited.

Does anybody here know any information on the cancelled World Heroes game for the Neo Geo Pocket?

IT got cancelled because people can play the cart version, and the game wasn't special to begin with.
