    Default Packaging the Sega CD

What were the various bundles/packages that Sega sold the SCD in? Did Sega ever bundle it with the Genesis and include a Genesis and SCD game in the bundle?

    Photos, please...
    It is finished!

I've never seen a Genesis/CD bundle. All the boxed Sega CD 2s I've seen had Sewer Shark bundled with them. Mine has an additional sticker on it which says it also includes Sonic Cd, Ecco the Dolphin and Sega Classic Arcade Collection. Google also turns up the "Action System" which includes Tomcat Alley. I'm sure there were one or two others, not to mention the Sega CD 1 bundles, but those are the only ones I know.

There's the model 1. Then the model 2 with Sewer Shark of which there are three variants. And the model 2 with Tomcat Alley.

EDIT: Forgot about the model 2 with Joe Montana Football... oops.

Those are all of the US Sega CDs. There are no standard SCD packages also containing a standard Genny. The only other things you have are the CDX and the X'Eye.

    I'm thinking of only two:
    1) The default one with just Sewer Shark
    2) Same as above but includes Sonic & Power Ranger (in the SegaRetro link)

    What's the third?
Or are you talking about the Sewer Shark box with the "Refurbished by Sega" sticker?

I wasn't talking about the box actually. I meant there are three variants of the Sewer Shark disc - which I consider to be complete package variants.

However, I do believe there is another box variant for the Sewer Shark pack that is not on that site.

There is also a variation on the model 2 which included Tomcat Alley instead of Sewer Shark.
    A retarded Sonic.

I would have loved a Genesis-32X-Sega CD hybrid to be released at the very latest of its life, as a swansong. Physically, it would resemble the Saturn, with a CD drive and a cart slot, but maybe smaller. But Sega fucked up during its hardware relevancy period and released 1,000,000 versions of every console + another million accessories for each one. Not a bad thing, but that burned them out too soon.

I never thought about it to be honest, but that really is silly they didn't ever sell a Genesis+Sega CD in one package. That would have really helped the sales for the Sega CD.

Why would they though? They would have saved the cost of what - producing one box. And that's what the CDX was. A Genny and CD in a single smaller package.

That had already been noted in 3 of the previous 6 comments.

There was also the 5-in-1/Sherlock Holmes Package, and the CDX came with Sonic CD and Ecco the Dolphin.

So the model 2 came packaged with Sewer Shark and Tomcat Alley, but the model 1 was sold with no pack-in games? Why not?

Would the SCD maybe have sold better with a Genesis/SCD package with a pack-in game for each? Hmmmm...

The model 1 came with pack-in games. I have a neatly bundled set of discs from a Model 1. It includes Sol-Feace, Sherlock Holmes/Sega Classics Arcade, and Hot Hits/Rock Paintings.

I also have the Model 1 with Sol-Feace, Sherlock Holmes/Sega Classics and Hot Hits/Rock Paintings. It was what came with the Model 1 in 1992 at the very least.
