If one of the mods could activate user "akm", that'd be great. He's Austin from AtariAge, and he's good people.

    THE FORUM IS BROKEN!

    FIX IT!!!!
I've checked the options and user moderation is off, so hopefully that should end the problem.

And, if you know of another server willing to host us, please let me know. I haven't seen anyone willing to give us the bandwith this forum needs at a price that wouldn't require me to hock a kidney on eBay.

Until then, please make me a regular user because I am getting sick of people coming to me to help them and I can't do anything about it. I'm about as useless here as a shortstop in volleyball.
I don't understand why you don't have access, unless something was disabled behind the scenes. I've put you in the admin user group and enabled everything I can find to give you full privileges. Whatever's keeping you out isn't something I can change on my own. I'll tell Nick (again) to give you full access. There's no reason you should have lost it in the first place.

The problem is that people see me as an Admin and expect me to be able to help them, but I can't. I believe you when you say that you put me in the correct pool, etc but something somewhere seems to be wrong. I know get a database error screen when I log into the Admin Control Panel and the normal options are over on the right, but far fewer options than when I log in as a mod and even then I can't approve new users. Threads are also randomly getting put in a moderation que when they have a link.

The only way I might be able to fix it would be to log in as you, but then I'd be forced to post nasty things publicly for my amusement.

Holy shit, where the hell did all these spambots come from?

You know, maybe the mod queue and user registration isn't such a bad thing after all....

Speaking of approval; what's with the post approval thing?
Something to do with the spambots?

There was ZERO spam when it was activated, and I approved each new member personally. I lift it, and all hell breaks loose.

Thing is, all permissions are in place and new members are put into the probationary member group, which isn't supposed to be able to create threads.

Is the Question and Answer thing still in place? We used to have a TON of spam until that was put into place. I can't remember what the questions were, but they were a bit more difficult than "Name a blue hedgehog" I think, though not much harder, just something that would trip a bot.

EDIT: I don't seem to be able to do anything with the moderation que, so I had to individually delete every thread (and ban the user who started them) from the forum pages themselves.

Pretty crazy...though I wonder, there's gotta be some kind of medium right? Still be able to get new members without getting a ton of spambots.

Something isn't right with the system. However, I do stand quite corrected.

A friend of mine just e-mailed me to say his account hasn't been activated. I think he registered under the name c0dehunter. Anyone know what's going on?

I activated him. I've reactivated the COPPA validation queue for the time being, after yesterday's Russian invasion. New users can send up to 3 PMs and post in other's friend messages, so that should send more requests directly to me instead of Joe and the mods.

I know all hell broke loose the other day, but Melf, were you able to get akm activated? I tried checking on his status just now but wasn't able to find him via a standard search.

    Thanks Melf!

Was waiting for over a week, then i saw this thread from the main page. First i tried sending an admin message from the "contact us" at the bottom....nothing. Guess my message got caught in a spam folder or something. Almost gave up till i clicked on "quick links" on the main page, and "site leaders" and noticed i could send PMs even though my account was not confirmed. Then i sent Melf a message.

Whats with this forums crazy registration filter?

    ~TG, thanks again!
