    Default Darxide

I really wonder how this game would run on NTSC hardware.

I patched the ROM to make it american 32X compatible, but currently no way to flash it to my flash cart, until the everdrive arrives.

Anyone try it on american hardware?

Yeah, it runs fine on the Everdrive. The one time I played it for more than a couple minutes, I couldn't figure out how to get past the first level. Are there any manual scans -- or, if people are worried about bogus copies, manual transcriptions -- floating around?

Don't bother with DarXide, the gameplay is simply 3D Asteroids and boring as hell and the controls suck.

It works fine on my Everdrive once patched. I haven't bothered to figure out where the various bases for landing are or what their function is though.

I'm going to have to agree. I, of course, don't own a real cart, but the version I've played was totally not worth the admission price.

If you want a real killer astroids knock-off, go with any of the Stardust games, especially Super Stardust and Super Stardust HD.

Hell it is a good looking game at least. I can't figure out why nobody has bothered doing repro for this.

If so I'd love to get some of those unreleased games.

It should be just like Genesis repros, flash the rom and put it on a donor board with the old rom removed. From what I've heard Genesis and 32X games are super easy to do repros for since the boards are pretty standard. Now, when you get into NES and SNES games theres this whole business with the additional mask rom as well, and I've never heard of someone making a N64 repro.

I've been looking into doing this myself, but I don't want to invest in a rom programmer for this one game. I'd gladly pay someone to make the chip and send it to me, I've got enough extra 32x carts I'd love to make some into repros.

For NES/SNES it's the mapper chip that's the issue... Nintendo made dozens of the damn things. The MD only ever had one mapper, and only one game ever used it (SSF2).

Not to mention Nintendo cartridges have a special chip used to prevent unlicensed copies from working, and it took quite a lot of time before they could be cloned (and as you can imagine, they're still custom made).

Yep. It goes hand-in-hand with the mapper - repros generally sacrifice a crappy game with the proper mapper and a lock-out chip, just replacing the rom.

I have a NTSC repro of it. It's a really cool looking game, but honestly I've never played it for more than 30 mins at a time.
