Surprised ebay didn't crack down on that auction...they don't even like when you sell stuff recorded onto VHS tapes

Makes me wonder if my copy is indeed a 100% legit original...I'm pretty sure it is, since the label on it is a bit aged and has that authentic "label bubbling" plus I can verify that it is indeed 100% PAL region locked.

Okay, maybe that explains something that happened to me recently. I didn't know that these games could be duplicated like that. I met somebody that said he had the game and I even got to play it (more on that later). We had been talking about rare games and maybe even trading some of them. He had Darxide and also Battlesphere for Atari Jaguar. I did not have my rare games with me so we didn't actually get around to trading anything plus we never really hammered out a good deal anyways. I have some rare games like Daytona CCE Netlink, Stellar Assault SS, and Panzer Dragoon Saga for Saturn but he wouldn't agree to any one-on-one trades. He actually wanted all three games in trade for Battlesphere and there was no way I was gonna agree to that. I really only want Battlesphere if I can get two copies anyways for linked play. I'm wondering now if his Darxide cart was a duplicate because I didn't think you could play it on a USA machine.

As for the gameplay, I did get to play Darxide for a little while. Wow, this game looks great! I had the game set on "easy" because I wanted to see as many levels as possible but I could not get past the first level even after playing for about an hour while we were talking. Then I got called back so I had to leave before I even got a chance to play Battlesphere. I decided to try it one more time on "normal" to see how much harder it was and went right through to the second level. It actually seemed easier, though maybe it was just dumb luck combined with desperation. Or maybe it was because the enemies come after you faster which allowed me to kill them faster? I dunno. I thought the second level was cool with the "help" voices becoming louder as you get closer but I had a hard time catching some of them. It seemed like you could grab guys just by flying close to occupied asteroids but I'm not sure about that. Also, can you accidentally shoot the guys you are supposed to rescue? I think I saw one of them explode when I was shooting in that direction but he had been saying "oxygen low" prior to that.

Oh yeah and if you haven't killed everything, it lets you know... "mission failed" and it gives you the option to try again...and it plays through the initial takeoff sequence all over again...
I found that you can skip the launch / briefing sequence by pressing the C-button. It's actually a cool sequence to watch but I was pressed for time so after dying a couple of times, I started skipping it.

No...you can actually collect the miners by shooting at them. This technique is called "scooping." Certain power-ups can be collected in this way as well.

Miners are set to die/explode after a certain time limit passes. If you notice, when a miner first gets released into space, they begin flickering very slowly. As time passes by, they begin flickering more rapidly. Miners that are about to die of course flicker at a very rapid rate.

Also, another thing which will be detailed in my FAQ is the differences between easy/medium/hard level. There is actually almost zero difference between the three. I was able to clear the game without dying on all 3 difficulty levels and noticed only slight differences. If anything, I think the enemies are just slightly more aggressive and their shots do slightly more damage on the higher difficulty levels. Otherwise, all the missions are the same, and contain the same number of asteroids, enemies, and powerups.

I'm going to try and get my playthrough videos uploaded as soon as possible.
