Just follow where the screws go. If I need to make you a tutorial tonight on video, I'll do it, but it's SUPER easy to figure this out.
That hole looks like a broken toggle switch.

yeah..make one, I don't think the owner before me knew about...
I think Sega is the only one that knows how to mod it for Virtua Racing
I also wonder if the yellow wire is for SMS Mode..but how is Virtua Racing and 32X working without a switch
All it does is complete circuit..

I'm going to have a friend video tape me demonstrate this for you, so I will have a video for you later tonight.

Cool thanks for the pics
I'm too scared taking it apart like that....
Well, I'll be... now we know why 1) Virtua Racing doesn't work through the 32X and 2) why Virtua Racing works on KnightWarrior's 32X. It IS because DTACK is not wired between the two PCBs. Except it seems quite unstable on my 32X. The graphics tend to glitch up and the game is prone to crashing. Either I did something wrong or this is why Sega didn't wire it up in the first place. It really does make you wonder why Sega didn't wire up DTACK.

It plays fine on my 32X, No crashing...
Mine eventually stopped crashing after I reset the Genesis. Odd...

The 32X does weird things. If I run a game genie through it the game always freezes 30MINS in from over heating. I keep my 32X shelved unless needed for a 32X Game.
You only had 8 screws left to remove, all in plain sight. Six of them are the same size.
I think we're missing a pull-down resistor on DTACK at the very least. Take note of the way RES is setup.
What better way to force fans to buy 'Virtua Racing Deluxe'? Imagine buying 'Virtua Racing' in February of '94 for ~$100, then buying a 32X in November/December for ~$160 and finding out you needed to buy VRD for ~$60 or else you'd be doomed to the inconvenience of changing out the 32X for VR. That's ~$320 just to play one game conveniently!
