Laseractive has S-Video too.
Laseractive has S-Video too.
Yeah today I did more comparisons and sheath is right my model 1 does have better audio than the nomad. The nomad sounded the same with one or two games but other games (streets of rage 2) I could really notice the difference. Oh well I'll just deal with the rainbow effect on my model 1
Is there a chip that could encode s-video direct from the source RGB? Perhaps it may get better results.
That's why I said official Genesis consoles, because I'm not knowledgeable on the MDs made by other companies like JVC and the like.
You need the very last 3/4 motherboard model 2. This would be the VA 4. I have a VA 4 Majesco 1451 and a VA 4 MK 1631. No rainbow banding and sound as good as my VA6 Model 1 and VA3 Model 1.
Stock Genesis goodness reached it's peak in it's final itteration!
Sounds pretty awesome. I'm a little skeptical about the audio being as good as a va6 model 1. Too bad you have to do some hunting to find that specific revision. Reading here:

This guide says the nomad sounds as good as a pre-va7 model 1 but I really think my va6 model 1 sounds a noticably better than the nomad.
[Seeing how this probably wasn't noticed...]
Oh goody, another Drakon thread...
Honestly, the second screenshot isn't much better than the first one, there's still noise in the picture. And I hope you didn't actually mutilate a perfectly good Nomad for this dumb mod... But you probably did...
Look, if your modding skills are so amazing, take these pictures below and mod a Genesis Model 2 (VA0 or 1) with the Crystal Clear Audio mod. And while you're at it, remove the K2195D and replace it with a CXA2075 (disconnect output/NC pins, attach YTRAP to voltage with 3.32k resistor, Y and C only need a resistor and cap each). That would solve all your problems.

I'd much rather see you in possession of useful information while trying to fool people that you engineered the mod yourself, than destroying perfectly good Sega hardware. We've had enough tools like that already...
And for the record, the VA4 is pretty much the pinnacle of the Model 2 in factory specs. The sound is very good and it has the CXA1645, which is a very good video encoder all around. The VA3 is a bit hit and miss. Some have the KA2195D which produces a low quality composite image with no S-Video support and while the sound is much improved from earlier Model 2s, I find it still has some minor problems and when I tried recording the sound from the AV out, it sounded mono.
My argument is that different people have different sound setups and opinions of the best sounding audio. With my sound setup my va6 model 1 sounds better than my nomad. So I'm wondering if the va4 model 2 would sound just as good as the va6 model 1 for me.
Everybody should have a Yamaha Surround sound tuner to complement the Yamaha 2612, they work together like a symphony.
Perhaps this should have been in Genesis Does? Seems to have gotten a lot of responses though.
I thought the launch Genesis was the best Genesis? I run SCART off my 32X and it ooks great. The sound is great as well being I have a Model 1.
i can use the worst possible model genesis with my sony bravia and kenwood surround sound and have a complaint free awesome experience.. the filters in tvs now give me crystal clear gameplay even hooked up through composite... its ridiculous.. tvs do all the work for us now a days... soon ill be playing genesis in 3d i hope haha
Here you go I built the crystal clear audio mod...

Now are my "modding skills so amazing" ?
And I made the more complicated version of the circuit. The one you posted is the simple and outdated version.
Sorry I didn't bother installing a 2075 I think the 1645 is good enough.
I think growth potential is starting to become limited by the TV. Not your modding work. s-video's natural imperfections (relative to RGB or component) and basic TV speakers can only go so far.
