Support Help. Can login to forums but not sega-16.com.

Hey all,
I'm having trouble logging into http://www.sega-16.com.
I have a registered account (thesegadude) and I can login to:

http://www.sega-16.com/forum/usercp.php

But with the same user ID and password I cannot login to:

http://www.sega-16.com/log-in/

I have emailed support@sega-16.com but I thought I would post here as well while I wait for a response (hopefully this is an appropriate place). Maybe someone has seen this before? Does this have something to do with the changes I've seen on the site?

It feels like sega-16.com and sega-16.com forums have different user accounts. If I try to use the sega-16.com site to retrieve my password it will tell me:

ERROR: Invalid username. Lost your password?

But, as I said, I can login to the forums.

I have tried in both IE and Chrome.

I believe that they require separate accounts.

I did consider that they might be separate accounts and I might be crazy because I looked and I could not see where to sign-up for an account on www.sega-16.com.
I couldn't find anything that said 'register' or something similar. I even went to the login screen in hopes that there might be options for people who don't already have an account.
Oct 2006! I'm guessing you don't recall how you signed up! lol

You have to create a wordpress account somewhere through the Sega-16 site. I did it several months ago, but I can't remember exactly how I registered.

Hmm. I already have a wordpress account. Wordpress is where I have my own little Sega blog.
I know when I'm at my own Wordpress site I do have login information in bar along to top of the page but I don't see something similar when I'm at www.sega-16.com.
I do appreciate the help guys. And I'm feeling a little silly at the moment. I can't believe this is giving me a hard time!

If you have a Wordpress account already I'm almost positive you can use that to log into the main site.

However, the forum account is not the same as the main account.

I hear ya... And I'm ready and willing but the www.sega-16.com site is not accepting my wordpress login account.
I just doubled checked by logging into my admin page on my wordpress blog to be sure I'm using the right user ID and password and I can login to my own wordpress site but not www.sega-16.com with the same wordpress account.
Maybe I should email wordpress support?

Yeah, I just logged in with the exact same complaint.

The forums and the site are separate wouldn't it be better to have the Gravatar linked - and have an open posting system?

It's with the restricted registration, and we get tons of spambot registrations. Open posting would just overflow it with spam. I don't want to install too many different plugins to deal with this because every time WP upgrades, there's a chance the new version won't be compatible with some plugins and break something.

The registration page should work now.

Thanks Melf! With the link you provided I was able to get a password emailed to me and now I am signed into www.sega-16.com. Outstanding!

Edit: I have posted my Golden Axe comment. Feeling much better now :P Thanks all!
