The amount of hot glue everywhere not only looks bad, I'd imagine if it were to suddenly crack or pop off the board due to temperature change it could possibly due some damage. They make electrical tape for a reason you know.
It could probably DO some damage. The only temperature change that happens inside of a genesis is at the 7805 regulator and the heatsink attached to it. I don't have any hot glue attacked to the 7805 or its heatsink. When I first started modding I used electrical tape and it would eventually come off on its own.....without any temperature change! If electrical tape worked better than hot glue of course I'd use electrical tape.

Hot Glue is always bad. IF you want to make good jobs, don't use it! Try to make points smaller and cut excessive cables.
Trust me. I've modded several MD2s in my life...

I must say, I am opposite opinion than you. If you do mods for yourself, then use electric tape. If you make money from your mods, use hotglue, because it is easy to remove, last long time without peeling off and is neater when using small wires ie for single switch mod where there is 3 smal cables rounded, hot glue tend to keep the cables very neatly on the mobo where tape looks like shit. Where I agree is that Dragon is using hotglue very much more than needed, but I guess he is trying to make those mods to last from dad to grand children. Hot glue is good, tape is bad. Thats my 2 cent.

Glad someone understands. I'm trying to make something that lasts just like you said.

You don't need that much hot glue to make it last though. A small dab here and there would be fine. You didn't have to coat the entire board in it.

*shrug* I can remove it pretty easily.

The s-video circuit seem so pointles to me as we have scart rgb connector in finland. How ever, if someone could make rgb shift fix for sega, I would mod my segas right away as they are only consoles that causes rgb shift with televisions.

Except not everyone is in Finland and not everyone has a TV with RGB SCART.

Haha that's the funniest thing I've read in a while. I don't know what causing the shifting as I don't have a rgb tv. I do think that s-video is good enough though.

Jeroi if it makes you feel any better my cxa2075 circuit also outputs rgb.

VA3s have good sound and good video, as they have either a CXA1145 or a CXA1645.
VA1s have bad sound and video.

Not true on the VA3, some still have KA2195D encoders like my own VA3.

Sound on the VA3 isn't as good as a model 1, but pretty well balanced and more muffled.
You have to open your MD2 in order to know which encoder you have on it.

    VA3's sound quality is a bit less than a pre-VA7 Model 1.

The video encoder is usually located below the AC adapter and multi-AV jacks. It's a small, rectangular, surface mount chip with 24 pins. It'll say "Samsung KA2195D" or "Sony CXA1145" or "Sony CXA1645" on it.
