Do you want to include serial numbers as well? I'll start pulling some info out for mine when I get home.

Hmm... Well, NintendoAge has huge serial number threads for the purpose of finding the lowest possible (somebody has a 00009000 NES!). I think Sega handles their serial numbers differently than Nintendo or SNK so maybe it won't hold as much interesting info...

But I guess serial numbers at least would be useful for identifying specific systems that all share the same manufacture date (namely the Model 1s). I'll adjust the first post accordingly. You guys can submit serial numbers, I'll add them. Please include zeros preceding other numbers so they are all the same length.

I checked the rest of my stuff. I have a model 1 MFG'd in September 1992. I have a model 2 from May 1993 and another model 2 from October 1993. The other CDX I have is from January 1994. Not sure if this might help but this particular CDX, which is boxed, is packaged with two trays. I know there's another boxed version out there than has cardboard inserts instead. That might have been for CDXs that were manufactured in May or later. Proof is on eBay. I saw some listings and the stuff inside the boxes to hold everything is different than my boxed one.

Thanks for the new entries arnold, list updated. Serial numbers would be nice too if you can get them. Check the pictures in the first post to see where the serial number is usually located on Model 1, 2 and most likely CDX systems. I don't know where the serial number is on the JVC X'Eye system.

What would be nice, along side the serial numbers, would be for you guys to take an example picture or two of where the serial numbers/manufacture dates are located on the Model 1, CDX and JVC X'Eye. You'd be credited and the pictures would be put on the first post. Thanks for all the contributions so far guys.

My European Mega CD 2 has different stickers; the black Sega sticker with Serial number is there, but to the left of it is a yellow sticker reading "Class 1 Laser", and below them is one in French(?) with a radio signal logo, which I assume is for the RF plates inside. No production date is on any of them.

You referred to the US pictures as an example and found nothing? Well a serial number for your Mega CD 2 would still be a good addition to the list. I have never touched a foreign Mega CD so I can't help much. Perhaps other more technically inclined UK users could help find the production date?

It's not Sega CD, but villahed94 pointed out that with Genesis models, you can get some information on a unit's production date by checking the motherboard and the inside of the two shells. For a Genesis 2 inside the top half of the shell, you can find circles with numbers on them like a clock, but they represent year and month. I have a Genesis 2 shell from September 1993, for example. Maybe you can find information like that inside your Mega CD 2.

    List updated, thanks cheater!

We could use a photo of the JVC X'Eye's stickers. If you could snap a pic of your, that'd be greatly appreciated. You don't have to though, there's other people with X'Eyes.
