You know, I have to say, I've seen this argument popping up more and more and I don't agree. Granted, posts like "first" or other nonsense like that are obviously just a waste of a post. But silly threads like the random thread or even the lolcat thread take about as much time to produce as the average "yeah I thought that game sucked too" posts. I don't consider this post padding really, it just seems like a way to have fun around here.

That's what I like about Sega-16. It's very laid back, unintrusive. As long as you don't start fights/troll, you're free to discuss just about whatever you want without some asshole reprimanding you for bumping an old topic or making a "pointless" thread or post. Nobody really gives a shit about post counts around here, because they don't mean anything. Equal playing field for everyone. People are just trying to do something to take their mind off of things, to get some human interaction. Why make it so rigid, you know?

I think that's one of the best parts of Sega-16, that you can have the fun, whimsical threads and posts.

There unmistakably are some such members. You're not one of them.

@ the august Mr Smith and Genesis Knight: where are your posts and threads? I honestly have no idea what made the oldtime discussion so different--and have you seen the amount of necro bumping I've done? All I know of you two, apart from that I like you both, is that GK created even more hopelessly unanswered threads in his first year than I have.
One problem with keeping things strictly Sega 16 bit related is that unless censure is initiated by a review anything unflattering towards any Genesis/SCD title is construed trolling/flaming/(insert internet vagueness here). So people like to discuss other aspects of Sega or wholly unrelated topics lest they get into a flamewar.

Oh, and isn't it high time Mr Smith be made a mod?

I could get to 10,000 posts and still no one would give a damn what I say.

    I agree with Mr. Smith.

Would be better for a "Forum Games" subsection in off topic, as well as other subsections for sports, entertainment(Music, Movies, Books, etc.) I think it could improve the types of people the forums attract. Seems to be a correlation between the rise in forum game threads and guys that are into collecting dolls, and watching my little pony finding their way over here.

Vote Smith 2012 for Off Topic reform!

    ...and ban Eddie Spruce!

You smoke weed while playing video games? No offense, but I think you're one sick individual.

I don't play old stuff for nostalgia, I play old stuff because the games are better.

Imagine an alternative history where Nintendo made good hardware that never turned yellow and rusted from the inside.

Don't worry MrSmith. There's a whole new thread in off topic for you to enjoy that doesn't involve pussy or boobs.

I think that pony ate too many carrots! He/she looks constipated! ()

Oh oh! I think I heard some bowel movements! That pony is about to make some "carrot cake"! Take cover! (double )
The fictional character Gordon Gekko once stated,"Greed, for lack of a better word, is good". Gekko is sometimes unfairly judged. There is a big difference between maintaining one's moral compass in business and that which operates in one's personal life. In business, the reality is that if you are not willing to crush your competitor, you might as well get out of the game while you're still ahead.
