That's what the Dreamcast release is as well last I checked. Only the MVS version is getting released earlier.

    You're correct, Trekkies.

From a Dreamcast fan's perspective, it's unfortunate in a way that NGDev Team's games are essentially NeoGeo ports. (Although I'm grateful for what I can get, and doubly happy that they're such relatively high quality games.) I mean, these games are stunning for the NeoGeo hardware (what with Fast Striker's hacks to get so many bullets onscreen simultaneously) but pretty basic in terms of what the Dreamcast can do technically. Sturmwind looks to show what Dreamcast homebrew games are truly capable of graphically.

Edit: All that said, from what we've seen of Sturmwind it seems as if the backgrounds (the most impressive part of the graphics) might just be streaming video. I'm hoping not.

Sorry, I already have Mega Turrican and I don't need an expensive, half-assed knock off of it which this clearly is. Notice that they don't let you hear gameplay sounds. Also, why would a robot have a wife?

Is he a robot or a guy in armor? But yeah, this does look almost exactly like Mega Turrican, down to the weapons and rolling attack and such. Is that a bad thing?

It's a blatant rip-off. They even ripped off a Thunder Force 4 boss in the shooter stage. I like my homebrew to have some originality to it. Why pay hundreds and hundreds for the same ol' shit I can already play?

It's a point that's been raised before, and it's obviously valid. I guess we'll just have to see if they do anything fresh with the ideas or if it's a complete re-tread with nothing new to offer. I'm not against spending money to play things I've played before if they're remixed/shuffled somehow. A lower price point would probably prompt more people to try it out, but then again they know they have the hardcore collectors/suckers by the balls no matter what games they put out.

That they do. Nearly $600 for the AES version? That price is nowhere near being justified. I'd buy it for under $100, though.

Why not go for the substantially cheaper Dreamcast version? Much less sexy, admittedly.

This is likely a stupid question, but I can't seem to find the answer on their site. Is the DC version region free?

Yeah. They're just pressed CD-Rs, so if your DC can run burned games (like 99% can) then it will run.

Would you find it a turn-off if the backgrounds were all Silpheed-style videos?

    Robot's need love too Joe.

I can't believe you're going to pass up a run'n gun after buying Star Odyssey and Pier Solar. Like Genesis Knight said the DC version is a lot cheaper.

I am hoping it's all real time, the graphics are what piqued my interest.

    Less talk more action!

I don't know, what this game up the game with in coding skills it loses in originality. I'd like to give it a try but it just seems like a massage fanboy homage to TF and Turrican, the latter's style I was never that fond of to be honest. I would much rather a bit more originality and thought was put into a lot more homebrew.

Also the Thunder Force level actually looks terrible, the background used is awful, couldn't the Neo do about 4016 colours at once?

I'm pretty sure we've all seen the same videos. So far, I like what I've seen.
