Apparently the version of Wonder Boy in Monster Land that's being used here is an entirely new English translation of it (according to that Sega blog post from last year)
Still, like Benjamin said, thank god Backbone's emulations are gone.

M4R14NO94's YouTube Channel, home of some awesome (and cheesy, if we are talking about Smashing Drive's music) video game music and MegaRace 3 cutscenes (in Spanish). Now with GAME OVER YEAH!

Finally! Getting this for MWIV alone!
We'll be previewing this either tomorrow or next Thursday, depending on how my interview pitch goes. This is being done by M2, the same developers who made many of the Sega Ages collections (and Gauntlet IV!), so I have high hopes.
I'll definitely be buying this for Monster World IV. It's too bad about The Dragon's Trap's omission. I don't need to own another version of it but I really wanted more people to be exposed to it. Even the most popular MW game is criminally overlooked by the mainstream. I think SMS WB3 is the best designed game in the series (Monster World is great but starts off a bit slow and while MW4 is the nicest looking, I prefer the less linear games).
I can wait. It's a download only title.
I have to agree. The series needs more exposure. With all these classic releases being re-released, I wonder what SEGA's long time goal is actually. For the most part, they are doing reasonably well as a publisher this generation.
After hearing this awesome news, I think I am in the mood to play some Wonderboy tonight!
The fictional character Gordon Gekko once stated,"Greed, for lack of a better word, is good". Gekko is sometimes unfairly judged. There is a big difference between maintaining one's moral compass in business and that which operates in one's personal life. In business, the reality is that if you are not willing to crush your competitor, you might as well get out of the game while you're still ahead.
Meh.
But on the bright side maybe Wonder Boy can benefit from more exposure as people have said, he'd (either Tom Tom, or Shion) better be in the new Sega Allstars Racing game when it comes out, his ommission irked me last time.
Look at that soundtest, this is a day one purchase for me.
Less talk more action!
I'm gonna get some MS Points JUST for this.
Here's hoping for a Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection vol. 2, with programming by AM2 instead of Backbone![]()
After almost two decades, Sega is finally localizing Monster World IV for game consoles. Arriving in April, the collection includes two other Monster World games, with all the online bells and whistles today’s machines can offer. Read our preview and see why it’s time to save Wonder Land again.
I'd say Monster World IV is by far the best playing game of the series thanks to the additional combat moves and the interesting puzzles using Pepelog. Dragon's Trap is a close second since the various forms add much needed variety to the game. That said, I love Monster World III the most because it has the best world and music, even if the gameplay, puzzles, and level design are very simplistic compared to the others.
