Funnily enough the Adult Party Cartoon was exactly what R&S's creator originally envisioned the cartoon to be,
but they censored him and we got weird Ren & Stimpy instead of gay Ren & Stimpy.
Personally I felt the Adult Party Cartoon was a mixed big, I enjoyed the titties but was creeped out by the rest..
No. Not even close. Bronies are male fans of the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Furries are people, male or female, who like to dress in animal costumes to have sex. Some also feel that those who like/draw artwork that features half human/half animals characters in either clean or pornographic situations are furries too, and so lump both groups together under the word "furry." So "furry" and "brony" aren't the same.
And now you know... and knowing's half the battle.

The Coop's signature is a good example of Bronies and Furries.
The fact that people willingly adopt a moniker like "Brony" is fucking depressing in its own right. Peoples willingness to form sub cultures off of minor trends is thoroughly discouraging.
I watched this show based on the hype, to see what the fuss was about. As others here have said, it does feel like a late eighties/early nineties cartoon, and is at the very least more cohesive and tolerable than ninety percent of the incomprehensible shit you see on childrens television. My daughter likes it for the pretty colors, my wife enjoyed it too. I watched some and can honestly say I didn't want to hang myself afterward. It is not nearly as pandering and pastel as some other things intended for kids, but at the end of the day it isn't unreasonable to say it's just another fucking kids cartoon which most people enjoy based on the fact that there is now cliquey group of people they can associate with if they do.
The fact that people are so adamantly hateful towards it is just as transparent as the unbridled "love" for it; like Twilight fans and Twilight haters, you always need some polarity there so SOMEONE can feel good about themselves. The fact that anyone would even bother to chime in their hate for these things suggest that they have them on the brain on some level and have to express that. I don't know who I find more pathetic; a group of grown men who readily draw pony fan comics, or a group of grown men who have to sit there all day flinging shit at a colorful cartoon for children. It's a bunch of masturbatory nonsense either way you look at it.
My response to the Brony infection coming to Sega-16:

I've got two sisters who are very fond of the show, however the very thought of me watching and being a fan of something designed for six year old girls really doesn't bode well for me. To be honest though, it certainly doesn't help that at least half the bronies I've met are completely batshit insane.
One of my old friends started ignoring his girlfriend and started playing with the My Little Pony toys on his youtube channel, and is getting a pony tattooed to his chest D:
I know bronies aren't all like this, but I can't really stand to be associated with a groups of people who are that obsessed with anything actually. Even if I actually watched the show and decided it was funny, I would never call myself a brony.
How can you "bash" both sides of an issue? I was making observations. To be fair if I was bashing anybody, if I had to pick a side, I'd definitely side with the "bronies" on this one. I think the term and idea of adopting a moniker like brony is silly certainly for the reasons I have described, but I'm not going to judge anybody who likes a childrens cartoon, who cares? It's the people who need to make a point about how much they hate or are disgusted by a certain type of fandom who look like the bigger idiots to me. I definitely can't relate or really understand why, say, people seem to fucking love Twilight, but the fact that their are fans of a harmless novel out there doesn't affect my day to day life so I definitely wouldn't be compelled to bitch and whine about it all day long. Some people seem to be, and I always wondered why that is, why people need to constantly assert their negativity as if the sole act of doing so will somehow negate the popularity of a trend.
And how the hell does your Sega Genesis website observation come in to play? It's an off topic forum, people were having a conversation and sharing their opinions, and I did the same. The fact that I "write articles" here doesn't bar me from being allowed to actively participate in conversation.
I don't have a problem with people being fans of this show, it just so happens that most bronies I've encountered tend to try and shove the show down your throat and make you watch it too. Throw in the fact that a lot of them act rather creepy about the show makes it really awkward to interact with them. One mod on the official Sega Forums is a brony and he now posts in a rather creepy manner referring to people in general as ponies and referring to certain higher up mods as characters from the show among other things.
Adult men wanting to belong to a cult that watches cartoons about girly ponies,
Oh mankind's never ending quest to be part of a group, Truly this world is inhabited by sheep.
