Default 32x cartridge release / cross system compatibility list

The question regarding which 32x carts work in which system seems to pop up a lot, so I figured I’d compile a list of all the commercially released carts and what systems they're locked to. If there's any corrections just let me know and I’ll try and keep the list updated.

World releases – carts are all the same and work in any system combination
    BC Racers
    Blackthorne
    FIFA International Soccer ‘96
    Kolibri
    Mortal Kombat II
    NBA Jam: Tournament Edition
    NFL Quarterback Club
    Primal Rage
    RBI Baseball ’95
    Sangokushi IV
    Shadow Squadron
    Spider-Man: Web of Fire
    T-Mek
    Toughman Contest
    World Series Baseball ’95
    WWF RAW
    WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game

US NTSC releases – carts will only work in NTSC systems with a US Genesis will not play on PAL machines or when hooked to a Japanese Mega Drive
    Brutal Unleashed: Above the Claw
    Pitfall
Star Trek - Starfleet Academy Bridge Simulator
    Virtua Racing Deluxe

Japanese NTSC releases – carts will only work in NTSC systems with a Japanese Mega Drive, will not play on PAL machines or when hooked to a US Genesis
    Star Wars Arcade
    Virtua Racing Deluxe

US/Japan dual region NTSC releases – carts will only work in NTSC systems and may have dual-language settings depending which region the console is set, will not play on PAL machines
36 Great Holes Starring Fred Couples
    After Burner Complete
    Cosmic Carnage / Cyber Brawl
    Doom
    Knuckles Chaotix
    Metal Head
    Tempo
    Motocross Championship
    Space Harrier
Star Wars Arcade – (American 32x release)
    Virtua Fighter
    Zaxxon’s Motherbase 2000

PAL releases – carts only work on PAL machines with a PAL Mega Drive and display an error message if played otherwise
36 Great Holes Starring Fred Couples
    Afterburner Complete
    Cosmic Carnage
    Darxide
    Doom
    Knuckles Chaotix
    Metal Head

Great list, thanks for posting this!

I'm guessing that Sangokushi IV is excluded because we don't have the PAL info yet. I was able to boot the No-Intro ROM of Sangokushi IV on a US NTSC Genesis via the EverDrive without any need for a patch, but I can double-check to make sure that the EverDrive's region auto-patching isn't affecting things (since it does affect DarXide IIRC).

Romance iv works just fine on a us 32x...not sure about pal. I could try it...

This list is very handy...let me tell you I had a bitch of a time trying to get darxide working...I had to import a pal mega drive, pal 32x, stepdown converters, video converters, the whole 9 yards. Jesus fuck

You didn't need the step down converters. All Sega AC adapters output the same DC specs... The only thing that differs is the AC side depending on the region.

I updated the list with the last three remaining games. Might be worth stickying for future reference.

Good point, I was unaware of the PAL release of Motherbase. I have neither the ROM nor cart to verify, but being the NTSC was a J/U cart I'd bet my last dollar it was a PAL only affair.

That's because the PAL release is supposedly not dumped, as of 2008. According to no-intro's DAT anyway. If that as a source means anything.

I thought Iasked that before somewhere but can anyone really confirm that Blackthorne runs on a Pal System? I saw a french list one year before and there I read that nothing happens - the screen stays black.
