Default Stereo out of a Genesis 1

Would something like this: and some RCA stereo cables...

...Give me stereo sound from a Genesis 1?

Tonight, when I was tipping back a few, this idea came to me. I tried it with a RCA Y-adaptor lying around, and a RCA to 1/8th plug w/ some cables and I got sound from both channels, so I guess it works. I didn't have anything like the pic I posted above at hand. But I got some video noise when there was sound on the screen, and some of the music in Streets of Rage 2 was off, like the song on the first level.

I'm guessing it was because I was using some crappy generic radio shack cables and a few adaptors, and the audio cables I used where composite video cables. Now... using the correct adaptor (not two at once) and rca stereo cables, but if I had it connected to a stereo, would it sound as good as a Genesis 1/Sega CD connected to a stereo through the back (using the mixing cable from the headphone jack to the mixing port and rca cables connected to a stereo)?

Good to know. But I don't get why there was video noise when there where sounds being played, and why some of the songs in SOR2 sounded off. Now would it sound just as good as a Sega CD hooked up to a stereo... you know with the jacks on the back?

the jacks on the back of the Sega CD are useless on a model one, unless the mixing cable goes from the headphone jack to the Sega CD mixing jack (otherwise you only hear CD audio)..

Your video hissing sound is related to what I found not that long ago: http://www.sega-16.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2016

You could buy something like this without having to worry about adapters:

Of course, it doesn't have to be white.

And sure enough I bought a cable like that and it works a LOT better. No video noise, and the sound is awesome.

No, it's not AV.. Look at the pinout for the Genesis 1, it has NO stereo output..

You must use the headphone jack, and to do that, you need to get a phono to RCA adapter, as posted in this SAME thread.
