    Media Mortal Kombat audio fix?

The MK SCD always bothered me with the mixed up audio. I was wondering, if was one to re-burn the game onto a CDR, but put the tracks in their correct order (I'm guessing you'd just have to rename the tracks) would the correct tracks play on their corresponding stages? I've never burnt a SCD-R, nor I don't think I have the software to do it. Has anyone tried this? If so, does it work?

It should, you just need to identify what track numbers need to be renamed, and as long as the CUE sheet is correct (pregap, etc.), it should reburn without a problem once you rename the tracks. From what I remember, all the tracks are redbook audio so they should all be accessible.

Yeah that should work, just be careful with some. I know the Saturn port of UMK3 to save audio ram space has certain voice samples mixed into the beginning of the stage music as well as having them separate.

For example in UMK3 on the Saturn every stage track has "FIGHT!" in the beginning of it. And all the [character name] wins quotes and all the [you suck] and [something-ality] quotes from Shao Kahn are redbook audio tracks. So that saves Audio RAM by only requiring the round number announcement, character grunts and screams, and the toasty voice samples to be in RAM.

I have been curious to look into fixing the mixed up Audio tracks on the Saturn port of UMK3 but some of these issues make it a tad bit difficult. For example you can't swap the music for the stage above scorpions lair to what it's supposed to be because you'll hear "FIGHT!" when you punch someone through the floor.

I always wondered what it would be like to play the Sega CD MK with the audio tracks from that "So bad it's awesome" Mortal Kombat music cd (was it the movie soundtrack? I don't remember.)

The main "Mortal Kombat!" theme from The Immortals is on the first soundtrack, and I think the remix is on the followup, IIRC (I never got that one). But yeah, it's totally possible to swap that track into another slot to make it play in the game. If I were doing this, I'd test it on an ISO+WAV in an emulator first before burning to a disc, in the event it's not exactly what you want.

The problem is, moving the tracks around still won't totally fix it. Remember that the Pit music plays in Courtyard and the Pit, so if you want to fix the Courtyard, you'll fuck up the Pit. Plus that still doesn't account for the tracks that are missing altogether.

Still, it'd be kinda cool to see someone fix this someday, preferably through hacking, as well as tossing out the stupid audio cues that don't even belong there in the first place (*duh-nuh-duh* at the end of every frickin' round, for example).

Aw, crap, I forgot about that...

So yeah, you'd need the original arcade tracks (preferably in wav format), AND you'll need to hack the ROM to call the correct tracks. Of course, this makes the original point moot, as if you were to hack the ROM, you could have it call any damn track you please, lol.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm far too lazy to actually attempt this sort of thing with this game! If I ever really get the desire to play MK 1 again I'll probably just get the Arcade Kollection off PSN, since I have the PS3 Tournament Edition MK stick.

What if Probe was so incompetent that they actually put that track in there twice?
