Default PAL Megadrive region mod? PAL TO NTSC

I was trying to region mod my PAL MD to play NTSC. I cut the jumpers and bridged 2 and 4 jumpers.
I have sound but no video out

I also swapped out the oscillator from a NTSC b/c I noticed the freq. was different.

I had that problem. There was an extra oscillator in my case and I removed one to get my system working. Wish I had pics of the system before the mods.

There is a wire coming from the comp. sync pin on the encoder to comp. out on the connecter pin with a ceramic capacitor. from the pin to ground.
I took the wire off and it quit working all together "no sound"

I had a heck of a time getting my imported system region modded. All I can remember is removing a second oscillator and on the bottom of the board was a cut trace that I reattached to get it working. I'm not sure if the cut trace was an accident or intentional. It might help to see pics of the top and bottom of the board. My megadrive was sold as a japanese system but gave a black and white picture until I removed that oscillator. The board also had an rf unit that was not soldered directly to the board but was just loose in the system and connected by wires. So not sure if someone attempted any kind of mods on this or not. I think they did though.

This is a french RGB MD, you won't get any composhit out of it, there's a fair bit of soldering and new components needed to get composhit back.

S-video is possible, but since there's CXA1145 it is the complex kind of s-vid mod with transistors etc.

You can fix standard 32X mixing cable compatibility by soldering one additional wire, then you can use 32X video output

So a french system only outputs rgb? I always thought all megadrives would at least output composite.

French use SECAM and CXA1145 does not do it. RGB is mandatory in France AFAIK and MD does it natively, and thus problem is solved.
