You're unlikely to find this complete, and it is a borderline platformer, but Rubble Saver is a surprisingly fun game.
There is also a Rubble Saver II that is even harder to find.

    edit:
I just checked ebay and holy cow! the only copies available are $100+
In 2008 I paid $5 for a complete copy of part one, and in January of this year, after 4 years of searching, i lucked onto a complete copy of RSII for $24

Also, btw, i just read the review in Gamefaqs regarding Rubble Saver II, and I say it is spot on. However his criticism about the game being only 30-40 minutes long is really a "plus" in my book ~ this a portable game with no save feature, the length is perfect, and the challenge is high.

    What? No Shantae mentions?
    This is a classic, OP.

No idea if it's compatible with the Pocket, though.

Shantae was a GBC exclusive though, so that could be why it hasn't been mentioned :Y

Might also be because it's very rare and VERY expensive

One I forgot. Skate or Die: Bad N' Rad. A skateboarding platformer. Half of the levels are side-scrolling platform style, and the other half are top-down. It's a pretty weird, but fun, game.

Even the ones I've found that were legitimate auctions have gone for between $50 - $60.
that's rediculous, I didn't realize Kirby's dreamland 2 was so expensive now the last time I checked it out on eBay years ago it was hovering around $24-$35 for a complete. luckily wario land and wario land 2 are still fairly cheap complete, I highly recommend those if you can find completes for $20-$30.

If your interested in playing the megaman games it might be cheaper to get the rockman world versions from Japan, I know rockman world 5 goes for a fraction of what megaman 5 goes for. also if you want some mmx, megaman xtreme is decent and cheap.

Geez, what do complete US Mega Man 5's go for??

Coincidentally, the rarest of the GB Mega Man's (being 5) is the only Game Boy one I owned back in the day. To this day it's still my favorite of the Game Boy series due to how original it is, and one of my favorite classic Mega Man games in general as well. I actually got it because I told my mother that I wanted Mega Man 2 for the Game Boy, and she could only find this one (how ironic that the rarest one is the only one you can find), so that's the one I got. What's also funny is that I was initially upset that I didn't get Mega Man 2 (though I ended up enjoying 5 a heck of a lot, so I was satisfied with it), only to find out years later that it was nowhere near as good as the NES one.

Also, I want to throw another vote for the Game Boy Bionic Commando. That's definitely my favorite version of the game, as it has added content, great graphics, and I love the soundtrack way more than the NES version. The controls are also superior. This one's definitely underrated and overlooked.

Okay, here's some HARD DATA for you now. Here are my top platformer picks, along with the price I paid for them, complete. Most of these were BINs, but there were a few in here that were legitimate auctions. With the exception of ONE game, you should probably still be able to get these prices, if you're patient.

Super Mario Land 2 ($22.98 shipped)
    Operation C ($19.99 shipped)
Mega Man: Wily's Revenge (about $19.00 with shipping. One of those rare deals that miraculously slipped through the cracks)
    Wario Land II ($14.99 shipped)
    Donkey Kong Land ($11.49 shipped)
    Batman (about $11.45 with shipping)
Skate or Die: Bad N Rad ($12.87 shipped)
Milon's Secret Castle (bid up to $15.50, shipped)

Thanks dude, I appreciate that. Batman looks pretty awesome, I'll have to keep an eye out for it. I've been interested in that game ever since it was showcased on Game Sack.

Yeah, stuff like Batman, Bionic Commando, and Operation C are definitely very good games, Bionic Commando particularly (I love that series!). I'd also mention Balloon Kid; it's only sort of a platformer, I guess, but I do like the game. The two GB Tiny Toon Adventures platformers from Konami are fun games as well. Other licensed stuff on the GB's very much a mixed bag, though... the Capcom games, like DuckTales, DuckTales 2, etc. are good. They're similar, but not exactly the same, to the NES games of the same names. Other stuff's much more mixed, of course, though, and there are lots of awful ones. I did like Star Wars: Super Return of the Jedi, though... it's not the best game, and it's FAR easier than the SNES game, and doesn't have force powers, but it is reasonably fun for a GB licensed platformer. The last two levels (into and out of the second Death Star) are more fun than that Mode 7 Death Star 2 in the SNES game, too, I think...

As for other licensed GB platformers I have, I hated Toy Story, it's not good. The Lion King is better -- the game has some of the best music on the GB, seriously -- but its play control is SO finicky, frustrating, and poorly designed that the game's often a complete pain to play. Aladdin... is actually a port of the Genesis game. Yeah. It's nowhere near as good as the Genesis version of course, but it was interesting that they tried.

Oh, the Bonk games for GB are solid fun as well. And I'm sure there are plenty more, the GB has so many platformers...

As for Batman, though... yeah, I do have Batman. Batman for GB and Batman for NES are both from Sunsoft, but have entirely different gameplay styles and level designs. However, they have something in common -- in both games, I've managed to get to the final boss, the Joker, only to find him impossible and eventually give up and turn the systems off after dozens of tries. Yeah, he's similar in both games, and crazy hard both times... GB Batman is a good game though anyway.

Speaking of Sunsoft, Gremlins 2 is a great little platformer. You can get it cart-only pretty cheaply, but I've yet to see a complete copy come up.

I never played the GB version before, but I used to rent the NES version all the time when I was younger. Great game.

On the note of Sunsoft, I've always loved their GB Looney Tunes games. Looney Tunes, Taz-Mania (the first one, the second's not from Sunsoft and isn't as good), Speedy Gonzales, and Duck Dodgers are all quite good games. Sunsoft stopped making GB games between mid '95 and the end of '97, but came back in '98, and did do three dual-mode GB/GBC Looney Tunes games, plus a colorized remake of the original GB Looney Tunes. The colorized version's the one to get, it's the same game but with optional color. As for the others though, I don't have them, but they seem to be of more mixed quality than the original GB titles. Speedy Gonzales' Aztec Adventure looks quite similar to the first GB Speedy game, though. I'm much less sure if Taz: Munching Madness and Daffy Duck in Fowl Play are any good; the latter has some poor reviews. The other GBC Looney Tunes games are from Infogrames, not Sunsoft.

So Donkey Kong Land III is pretty good? I had the first one when I was younger, but I never played either of the sequels. There seem to be quite a few reasonably priced copies of the third game on eBay.

DKL3 is a pretty good game, I'd pick it up CIB if it was cheap enough. I would avoid DKL2, it's really just a downgraded port of DKC2. They made no attempt to make it an original game, unlike the other DKL1 & 3.
You know who else loves Sega....
