Some tearful kid is probably crying himself to sleep and you have his beloved Sonic
    It is finished!

One wonders how this large Sonic doll ended up on the side of the road...
Perhaps an irate father driving his family across country lost patience with his children as they were fighting, and threw Sonic out the window. "If you kids don't knock it off, I'm throwing that damn thing out the window!"

Or perhaps, as someone already mentioned, the Sonic partook in some nefarious, amorous activity the night previous, and the furrie discarded him on the side of the road after he or she had their way with him.

The only other possibility that comes to mind, is that your father made up the side of the road story and actually procured him from a second-hand store or local dumpster. I just find the side of the road story difficult to digest. I mean we're talking about a 4 ft Sonic here. Regardless, as long as the OP is happy sharing his bed with his new 4 ft friend, isn't that all that really matters?

In my area people put stuff on their curb for stuff they don't want anymore a few days before garbage pick up (I know my dad didn't find it in a dumpster or buy it at a 2nd hand store, he drives for a living all through residential areas). One person's trash is another person's treasure. I figure it is probably some kid who grew up and can't have any kiddie stuff laying around what would any interested 16 year old girl think of that... That's my theory. Either way I would probably drop $20-40 on something like this at a second hand store so I am happy.

All trolling aside it is a pretty cool pickup. My friends and I have a massize Shadow (5' at least) that we somehow managed to con out of the Gameworks in Schaumberg a couple years ago.

What are the chances that some guys were being chased by cops, stuffed the cocaine inside the Sonic doll, threw it out and were gonna come back to get it?

I would never grab anything from the side of the streets. We have a huge bed bug problem in Toronto.

Something that happens sometimes around our area is that a poorer family will load up the pickup to move to a different home. Occasionally, they might drop an item off the pickup and not realize it. I have seen beanbag chairs and stereo speaker lost this way. Sonic might have come to his roadside resting place in such a manner. I agree with the bedbug concerns though. I would take him, but he would get a heavy spraying with insecticide first.
    It is finished!

I once found a boxed Playstation on the side of a long farming road with no nearby buildings.

You know times are tough when even Sonic is homeless.
