Bubsy 1 Mega Drive variations?

I've got two different versions of Bubys 1 for the Mega Drive.

Got this clamshell version:

And this cardboard version:

Was there a point to having two versions? I don't need both of them but was wondering
which one to keep. Thanks!

Ballistic/Accolad originally made unlicensed games that came in cardboard boxes, probably because it was cheaper. Some of them were later re-released as clamshell versions.

The clamshell looks more like the US version here (If I am remembering correctly anyways).

If the games are the same I'd probably keep the one that matches the rest of my set. But then again, if the clamshell is unique there and fully official (not a bootleg or a custom case made to replace the normal), then I'd probably keep it for novelty/collectors sake.

Yep; Universal Soldier was the same, it had a cardboard box (think shoe box) and was the same for both the US & EUR releases. Not sure if it got a later clamshell release, though.

Bingo. I've never seen a clamshell version of Bubsy 1 before. I have the cardboard box version.

Could be, like I said. was only what I think I recalled. It's been so long since I've seen bubsy anything (aside from his cameo in the PA comic not long ago).

Decided to keep them both. I prefer the clamshell version, but the cardboard version has some extras like
a postcard and some other cards to go with it
