I got an SMS a while back... I love being able to play those old SG-1000 games on it - some of them like Drol were my all-time favorite games of the time. I use a flash cart, the Neo Myth for SMS, which also give us US folks the FM chip. I got my SMS with the light gun... I plan to get the 3D glasses sometime this year. The SMS is an awesome console... it's a bit odd why it didn't do so well in the US other than maybe it came out around the big crash. At the time, I was more into home computers than consoles (the Atari home computer, then the Amiga).
The Master Systems sound abilities is always a target of nes fans. Quite frankly I can always listen to other music while playing if the game music is actually bad, you can't replace the ugly visuals of a nes game though
But really its all down to the quality of the tune and making the best of what tech there is. Much as some Nes games look great, while others really show up the systems graphical limitations. Some good examples of SMS music:

If you you think the SMS has ugly graphics, then how the hell can you stand to play the NES, with its horrific 2bp graphics, and uber low colour sprites?! Master System is very much an entire generational leap above the NES in graphics, heck I remember an argument between some techies once where they tried to define what the characteristics of a 4th generation machine should be (being that bittage is meaningless), and one guy stated 4bp graphics, and 15 colour sprites were, to him what defined the graphics of that generation, which people were fine with, until someone pointed out that the SMS had both those aspects.
