Media Recommend me some good headphones

I've had now for a while these pair of decent headphones I use all the time and wish to change to something better. Anyone know any headphones that give great audio quality for a decent price? Don't even waste your time recommending the overrated beats.

I'm looking for headphones like these,

    Not these,

I recommend Samson SR850 headphones. I wanted a decent pair of headphones for recording music, so I picked up these, and they're great.

I use Sony mdr-v300. They sound great better than anything else I have had, have a very long cord, have proven to be durable (I kill lots of ear phones) and are comfortable enough for me to fall asleep wearing.

That's another thing, I don't want those oversize cords, just regular pockets to ear headphones.

Many good selections I've heard so far.

Most of the good ones have long cords though.

The cord of the headphones I recommended aren't too long.

Try Porta Pros, personally I use HD555's, but they might not be to your liking for a shorter cord & portability.

I love the sound from porta pros, but they aren't built to last outside of the house. They do have a lifetime warranty, which is nice, but I've burned through 3 pairs and I just wish they were built right to begin with. I was seriously entertaining the notion of picking up a pair of Grado SR-60's but I figured I'd break those too :/

Recently I've given up being able to enjoy high quality, portable sound and just buy crappy $5 earbuds. I would stay away from most Skullcandy cans, my gf has a pair (forget exact model though) and the super bass makes everything sound like low pitched farts tumbling into my ears.

I use a pair of Audio Technica ATH M50s. I like them a lot. They have strong bass, but not overwhelmingly so like Beats, and have very good mids and highs. I have the straight cord, which is ungodly long (I use these at my desk for music and with my tv to watch movies so it's not a problem for me), but the regular version has a coiled cable that may work for you. They list for $200, but I managed to find a pair for $125 and they normally run $140-150 USD.

If you're going to use headphones outside or around other people, I recommend getting closed back phones (the HD555's are nice headphones but are open back, as are the Porta Pros).

What's wrong with Beats? Yes, they are overpriced, but you pay for style and they pump out some decent sounds.
Wearing most other headphones in public just makes you look like a complete tool.

No, I don't wear Beats in public. Nor any other headphones.

I own a pair of Sony MDR-XD200 headphones. I purchased a pair back in '07 and it still continues to serve me well to this day. They aren't expensive so you can get them for a cheap price considering the quality. As a personal choice, I would recommend them. I typically use them when I'm on the computer listening to music, watching videos, or playing games. They are slightly more geared toward the audiophile than the casual user. The cord is 11-1/2ft (according to some online reports) though, which is way too long for what you're looking for. There are switches on both sides to switch between "Music" and "Movie" mode, with the latter having a bit more bass but the bass isn't overkill on these headphones. It has a good balance between bass and treble. You can read some feedback from Newegg that people left regarding the headphones here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16826159224 This may not be what you're looking for but I figure the more feedback the better in making your decision.

    The problems with Beats:

Overpriced (can get better sounding cans for much less)
    Overexaggerated bass
    Overly rigid (break easily)

There are tons of headphones out there that have a more balanced sound, or even ones with a bassy sound, for $100 or so...
