Default Why wasn't my hack topic approved?

I made a topic regarding a hack of a genesis game that I needed help with playing. But it wasn't approved by the staff...? Wasn't I allowed to talk about hacks in the Blast Processing section?

EDIT: Great! Now my posting privellages were removed... I cannot even reply to this thread... I better PM a mod/admin.

EDIT 2: Thank you, Jackal Problem still persists with my account. Hopefully someone reads this and sends a PM to a staff member to permit my account to post.

EDIT 3: For the record, I did NOT link to a ROM. This is mainly directed at Melf; if you had checked the link, you would see that I did not link to any ROM/warez. I linked to the patch that needs to be applied to the ROM. I just wanted to clarify that.

It's an automated message that has more to do with hyperlinks than anything else.

Yes, I had the same trouble. It's the links that kill the post - probably triggering some anti-spam setting. Eventually Baloo got around to approving my thread. Your only hope is to ask one of the mods to check into it for you.

Yeah, I don't check the mod queue very often, and I think I made a sticky about this. If anyone's threads or posts get stuck in the Mod Queue, please let me know and I'll approve them. The filter doesn't like certain links and specific key words, as well as one-word posts. Stuff like eBay, Amazon, etc. will get caught in the filter. Hacking is another good example of a word that would get caught in the filter.

Members with fewer than 50 posts aren't supposed to be creating threads, specifically to ward off spam posters. That's one of the security measures we've implemented. It's a pain, yes, but after last year's headaches, I'm happy to have them.

    You're very welcome.

I'll send a PM to a mod, hopefully they can sort your account out.

That's precisely my point. No one with fewer than 50 posts should be able to create a thread in the first place.

The thread was moderated because you included a link to ROM file. That's against the rules, so the thread was red flagged by the software. All discussion of where to get ROMS should be done via PM or email, not on the forum. Your thread about the hack is fine, and discussion is acceptable, but just don't link to the actual file.

The software seems pretty strict - my own thread had been blocked when it contained links to gcc source, and a couple of my own examples. It seems to err on the side of false positives.

What about IPS files (patches)? Or a link to a romhacking.net page containing just an IPS file?

I'm responding to this not because I particularily want to but because my account says i'm not allowed to start new topics and doesn't explain why that is. :- / I can reply and edit but cant post anything new, except I don't really have much to respond to existing threads at this time... how do I fix that? Am I supposed to post 50 meaningless replies spamming up topics I don't really need to comment that much on just to ask a few questions in relevant boards? :- / Coulnd't they just be postable with moderator approval or something?

No one with fewer than 50 posts CAN post unless I've personally approved them to. I don't seem to recall approving mgman. I may have, but I don't think he is a spammer. After doing a quick check mgman is in the "probationary members" usergroup and I have never manually moved anyone there. In fact it should be impossible to get there. There is Registered Users who cannot post a new thread until they have made 50 regular posts and Registered Users Plus where you can post threads. There is a COPPA moderation group that is crowded with tons of unapproved members that are impossible to sift through (that is why I made that usergroup obsolete). Lemme check this out.

EDIT: I'm not sure how you got into the Probationary Members usergroup, but the method of escaping is the same as escaping from the Registered Users... make 50 posts. But don't espect instant promotion as the forum only updates every hour or two.
