Default Your most/least favorite TV channel?

I don't consider myself much of a TV person, preferring to read books and play video games instead, but I tend to have an idea which I consider decent and others that I consider absolute abominations.

    Most Favorite:

    -AMC and TCM
Airs relatively classy films, not too bad as far as movies go.

    -A&E
This is relatively decent as far as "Real Drama" goes. Some shows strike me as genuinely sincere. Only complaint is that it has some sensationalist tendencies like with the ghost shows.

    -TLC, NatGeo and History
These channels still hold some merit but are starting to cater to sensationalist programming instead of actual education. I really like Pawn Stars though despite some of the inaccuracies from time to time.

    Least Favorite:

    -SpikeTV
The "man" channel, it is basically geared towards men that have accepted the lie that they must act like morons for the rest of their life. Not so bad if taken with a grain of salt, but my main gripe is how it capitalizes on stereotypes.

    -G4
Sort of like TV for idiots. This is by far one of the most vaccuous channels I have had the pleasure of viewing. The hosts are really obnoxious. This was once reknowned for its video game-related programming which, in my opinion, wasn't much better than what is on it today.

    -Logo & Lifetime
Logo, the gay/lesbian channel is unique in concept but unfortunately has the same tendencies as Lifetime and Spike to capitalize on stereotypes. That channel however isn't going anywhere from what I understand so perhaps will see it disappear completely in the near future. Lifetime, on the other hand, is here to stay.

    -Disney Channel
What used to air some relatively decent animated series (and still does from time to time) has now catered mainly to teen girls with very shallow programming that no sane parent would let their kids actually watch. I miss the old Disney channel by far, but it looks like its not coming back anytime soon.

    -TruTV
The name is ironic, considering this is some of the trashiest, most staged 'reality' programming that airs today.

    -MTV
I think we all agree where this pile of rubbish went. At least VH1 still caters to music. I always considered MTV among the worst of all stations though, trumping G4.

I haven't had TV since 2004. I've been watching everything online or on DVD since then. I just like good shows, and, in my experience, they have nothing to do with the channel in which they're broadcasted.

My tv gets only turned on for gaming, and maybe some Seinfeld.

I watched a lot of HBO for many years. It used to be like 9 or 10 bucks a month in the 90's and it was worth it but now it costs a lot more than that and it not worth it anymore. I think we all watched a lot less tv after we got high speed internet.

HBO - They've simply produced a lot of shows that I could really get into. I had a lot of fun watching Tales from the Crypt, Mr. Show, Tenacious D, Sex and the City, Flight of the Conchords, and Curb Your Enthusiasm. I was big on the Sopranos, Six Feet Under, and Big Love when they aired, and recent stuff like Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, and Veep are amongst my faves. They have clunkers here and there, but I usually have faith in their original programs.

Comedy Central - I'm a huge Futurama and South Park fan, but besides those shows, I can usually rely on this channel to provide some laughs.

    Least Favorite

MTV - I haven't seen anything worthwhile on this channel since "the State" in the early 90s, well, besides the occassional music video, which they seemed to stop playing with any regularity since the late 90s. Nowadays, they seem to have devoted themselves to producing the most obnoxious material you're likely to find on tv.

I don't have any favorites but I have to agree about TruTV and MTV being shit.

I don't really have a favorite channel, but the ones I tend to watch are the following:

    USA
    AMC
    TNT
    TBS
    Comedy Central
    Adult Swim on Cartoon Network

And if there's something good showing on them I'll watch NBC, CBS, or FOX.

Channels I hate are the following:
Lifetime - I freaking hate this channel. It's all just utter bullshit programming. My mom used to watch so much of it that I can completely predict one of their original movies by watching one for 5 seconds. Family Guy really hit the nail on the head with all the jokes they make about this channel

MTV - Could they at least attempt to be centered around music?

Spike TV - I used to watch it for a year or so after they stopped being TNN. Once they stopped showing Star Trek Reruns I stopped watching it. I can't even really watch Star Wars on this channel anymore since it's the butchered special edition. Though MXC was good for a few laughs while it was still airing.

SciFi - I used to watch it years ago, when they were more new and old Sci Fi TV series. Now it's all extremely low budget science fantasy movies that are so bad you end up being dumber for watching them. There was one I saw on there a few months ago where apparently power plant in a city caused a tornado. And when the hero turned off the power plant, the tornado went away. What moron came up with that script?

FX - They show reruns of sitcoms I never liked anyways, and when they show a movie they drag it out to 4+ hours with 10 minute long commercial breaks for every 30 seconds of movie.

    Dislikes
MSNBC & Fox News (2 extremist "news" networks; they're great if you prefer your news sensationalized and slanted one way or the other)
Nickelodean and Disney (I probably watch more shows on these networks than any others because of my daughter. So many of them make my head hurt. They tend to recycle worn out sitcom plots from yesteryear and insert poppy musical numbers at the end. Not all of the shows are bad, but many are.)

I loved TBS at first because they aired stuff like Everybody Hates Chris and My Name is Earl all on their original language (with subtitles, of course), until, at some point, they decided to dumb it down and started airing every show with the Spanish dub (with some exceptions like Are We There Yet? and Hot in Cleveland). And they started airing more Everybody Loves Raymond and The King of Queens, which are sucky IMO. Speaking of dubbing, a lot of networks here in Latin America started pussying out and started using dubs for those that either can't understand English and/or don't want to read while watching something. I say fuck 'em and deal with it.

I'm starting to enjoy VH1 a little more what with shows like Video Killed The Radio Star, That Metal Show and Pop-Up Video, but then they air stuff like Mob Wives, RuPaul's Drag Race and Girls Next Door re-runs and you can't take it that seriously anymore. At least it's not as bad as MTV.

These days, unless I'm watching sports, I don't watch TV. It's just not worth it.

These days, all I really need is a Netflix streaming account and a transistor radio, and I get all the programming I want.
