I don't consider myself much of a TV person, preferring to read books and play video games instead, but I tend to have an idea which I consider decent and others that I consider absolute abominations.
Most Favorite:
-AMC and TCM
Airs relatively classy films, not too bad as far as movies go.
-A&E
This is relatively decent as far as "Real Drama" goes. Some shows strike me as genuinely sincere. Only complaint is that it has some sensationalist tendencies like with the ghost shows.
-TLC, NatGeo and History
These channels still hold some merit but are starting to cater to sensationalist programming instead of actual education. I really like Pawn Stars though despite some of the inaccuracies from time to time.
Least Favorite:
-SpikeTV
The "man" channel, it is basically geared towards men that have accepted the lie that they must act like morons for the rest of their life. Not so bad if taken with a grain of salt, but my main gripe is how it capitalizes on stereotypes.
-G4
Sort of like TV for idiots. This is by far one of the most vaccuous channels I have had the pleasure of viewing. The hosts are really obnoxious. This was once reknowned for its video game-related programming which, in my opinion, wasn't much better than what is on it today.
-Logo & Lifetime
Logo, the gay/lesbian channel is unique in concept but unfortunately has the same tendencies as Lifetime and Spike to capitalize on stereotypes. That channel however isn't going anywhere from what I understand so perhaps will see it disappear completely in the near future. Lifetime, on the other hand, is here to stay.
-Disney Channel
What used to air some relatively decent animated series (and still does from time to time) has now catered mainly to teen girls with very shallow programming that no sane parent would let their kids actually watch. I miss the old Disney channel by far, but it looks like its not coming back anytime soon.
-TruTV
The name is ironic, considering this is some of the trashiest, most staged 'reality' programming that airs today.
-MTV
I think we all agree where this pile of rubbish went. At least VH1 still caters to music. I always considered MTV among the worst of all stations though, trumping G4.
