    Default Everdrive ?

I looked around a bit, but couldn't see anything that actually discussing this.

I see the Mega Everdrive is supposed to be able to work as a RAM cart for the Sega CD.

If so, will it work exactly like the official one? Has anyone done any tests to see if it has any compatibility issues outside of those normally seen with the standard flash cart itself?

I've been thinking of picking one up for use with my CDX as it would make a great all in 1 portable setup, and that little feature would probably push it over the edge of being a must buy. Now, if only I could use it to play the actual Sega CD games itself, then it would really be perfect!

I have one of these, but I've not currently tried to use it as a RAM cart, and I've never before had a RAM cart. If you can tell me how one would normally use it I can tell you if it works

There are 3 ways you can use it. One is just copying save games to it from the memory manager.
Second is for games that fully support it, it should just show up as another place to save it to.
The last is for games that sort of support it. They may let you see it, and maybe even copy or delete saves to or from it, but not save directly to it (sonic cd is one of these).

Games that do not support it at all will just have no choice but to use option one and save internally, relying on you to back them up to the ram cart manually later.

Isn't that a feature of the new Everdrive that is coming out? I think the original Everdrive doesn't do that, but don't take my word for it. I have an Everdrive and I never noticed any sort of feature like that.

No idea, I saw it listed as a feature, but not sure when it was implemented, or how well it works.

I've only used the Mega ED to backup internal saves so far, but it worked without issue. I don't really have any save-crucial games to test direct support with (RPG's are not my thing).
