Question Sega CD Lawnmower Man ??

Does anyone have any info on this game? There is virtually nothing about it online, not even gameplay vids or anything. What kind of game is it? Is it like the Genesis version or is it some FMV thing? It won't run on the emulator and I'm really curious about this title. It seems to be one of the rarer SCD games too... is it any good? Any info is appreciated.

FMV game, and frustrating one on top of that... one wrong move and bam start over. Intro is really cool though. You will definitely need a manual or something to play the game, I sure could not figure it out myself.

    This longplay is very informative:

The Sega CD version is a port of the PC version IIRC.
The color limitation of the Genesis VDP + the poor encoder used in this version killed it IMO (It could have been good on the 3DO or something...).
The game itself is nothing to write home about though...

Cool, thanks for the info guys. Odd how I couldn't find that longplay video.

The game looks kinda interesting. Though I'm not sure I'd say it's $40 interesting...

The game looks exactly the same on both the Sega CD and the PC; in this case the Genesis VDP was not the cause of the limited colour palette and low resolution. The Sega CD version does have slightly tweaked gameplay IIRC, but I can't recall the specifics.

I know the PAL version is the same as the US one...they fucked up the region code so if you find a PAL version, it'll be the same as US just packaging.

It's interesting to see this longplay video. Such a weird game! I haven't had the patience to make it very far. Anyone actually remember this movie? What about the Stephen King story it was "loosely" based on? It had nothing to do with Cyber-Job craziness, it was about a creepy lawn guy who eats the cut grass as he mows. NOTHING to do with the movie that came out. Never did understand that.
I happened to find this game a couple of weeks ago at a local game store for $10. I guess it usually sells for more, but the gameplay is def nothing to write home about so I'm happy with what I paid! Unless you can find it cheap, don't bother.

So is it dual-region or do PAL copies of the game not even work on a PAL Mega CD?

PAL versions don't work on PAL Mega CDs. The publisher recalled the games before they went on sale IIRC and decided it wasn't worth producing another, fixed, run. Not sure where the available ones came from, probably a warehouse given that there was a flood of sealed copies on ebay at one point a long time ago.

I actually saw a whole box of them for sale on eBay maybe 6 months ago. Was going to try and snap them up but it went relatively high.
