Right but obviously having these options is a popular idea so being able to activate them wouldn't be so terrible would it? I've been listening to a fan of my street fighter 2 arcade hack and implementing all the doable ideas he comes up with that aren't terrible.
Also I posted a revision of my arcade hack as the "final version" even eventually *frrt* a new version came out. Luckily I number my releases (version 4, 5, 6). So I changed it to "the final version 5"
From now onward I'm just going to post for my hack as being a "neverending WIP that gets updated at completely random times....may even take years for a single update". However the stuff I did isn't nearly as difficult as what you've managed to pull off.
The way I see it is: if adding the ability to enable / disable a feature isn't too difficult, then why not? If adding an option to enable / disable these things in the options menu is too hard that's fine I completely understand. If adding the features permanently isn't hard I would just release two versions so people can choose. I mean you can always hack your own personal version for how you like it but have the public release be more of what the public likes, not like you would have to play it. People like options and people like customization. I've got people really interested in a program that would let them customize the pallette of characters, physics and other things in sf2 arcade. And honestly...I think that's a GREAT idea! I'm glad I've inspired such an idea! I just wouldn't want to see your awesome hack get ignored because of a few preference related issues that people aren't able to switch on / off. People are picky, so I think it's good to let them have a little freedom. As a n00b rom hacker myself I can tell that your hack is nothing but the best and I'd really love to see it thrive.
