    Street Fighter Alpha 3
    King of Fighters 95
    King of Fighters 96
    King of Fighters 97
    Dead or Alive
    Anarchy in the Nippon

There's also Metal Slug and Sengoku Blade (I think that's how it's spelled) to add to the list of shooters that haven't been mentioned yet.
For the SNK or Capcom games, I prefer to grab the actual AES, MVS, or CPS/2 carts and play them there. That said, Dead or Alive is one of the best fighting games on the system - roughly on par (technically) with VF2. If you like Fighting Vipers, VF2, or Fighters Megamix, then DoA is right up your alley. It helps that it has some of the best character models on the entire system, too. Due to the way the models are textured, seams in the models are neigh invisible, giving a much more cohesive look than normally found in Saturn games.

As a side note, you can only play disc 1 of Deep Fear (PAL or JP) with an AR cart. At the end of disc 1 when you pop the lid to put in disc 2, the Saturn resets to the US region and won't play the disc. Since the game doesn't have a save point at the end of disc 1, there's no way to play disc 2.

The Saturn ports are good alternatives for those who don't have the means to play Arcade boards though. And in some cases the price difference makes up for it such as the case with Metal Slug. A little bit of slowdown isn't nearly as big of a deal considering you're paying $50 for the game as opposed to the $1000 price tag of the Neo Geo version.

Whenever I've powered off my Saturn at disk switch points it's saved my place automatically. I can leave it alone for days and resume from the next disk. Try it, see if it works for you. If so all you'd need to do is lock down your system's lid spring, play to the switch point, power off, and switch disks. With this setup you could of course reverse steps three and four, but the whole process might not be needed.

Er, I'm on Disk 2 of Deep Fear right now on my JPN saturn. Playing the European copy...

I have definitely not had those experiences, after the first time I had what I said happened, I just bought a JP Saturn. It's odd since I know others have had my issue too as we've talked about it. Hmm...

The next time I play it I'll give your way a try StarMist.

Got mine in the post today and worked great, only problem is one of my 2 Japanese games loads fine and get through the intro and menu screens but won't load the actual game. Most time just hangs and one time went back to menu with the message saying disc not compatible. I'm guessing it's time for a laser replacement.
