Does everyone not carry cash anymore ?

PIN here is properly the 4-to-5 digit number (stands for personal identification number), and as Baloo said, debit cards or ATM cards are used in conjunction with PINs. I can't understand credit cards with an annual fee or where you don't pay it off.

I don't think i'd ever get a credit card myself, being in debt once when I was 20 was enough for me and I don't plan on being in debt again.

I generally carry a small amount of cash (usually less than $20) and just use my debit card for most purchases. I have had very little need to have more than that, unless I am going somewhere that does not accept card (flea markets, garage sales, etc).

Physically, I spend cash exclusively wherever possible. It doesn't help that my Debit Card's magnetic strip and chip are dying.

Granted, I almost never spend more than $80 in money (and that's on the extremely rare occasion that I give my car a full tank of fuel).

Wow, it costs $80 to fill up your car? I think it costs about $35-40 for me to fill up mine...that being said my car is also very old.

I used to bar tend for a good 5-6 years, so there was a time when I always had a few hundred dollars on me every night. Hell, there were times when I had in excess of 1000.00 on me, mainly because I was too lazy to go to the bank and deposit it. It was nice always having access to your cash, but, being a bartender (or working in the food service industry in general), you'd tend to go out... a lot, and if there's one surety in the service world, it's that if you're out drinking with your friends, you can kiss that cash good bye. Don't get me wrong, I was always up to date on rent, bills, etc., but I never did anything but work and drink, because after that, I didn't have any cash to do anything else!

Fast forward 5 years and I'll be lucky to find a dollar bill in the wash.

Well I might have gotten stuff mixed up, if you say Debit Cards sound like what I described as bank/pin cards then its probably the same thing.

Just saying that I don't understand why people love Credit Cards so much when all they ever really talk about
is about being in debt and getting out of it and then getting another card with less % and why this is better etc etc.

I used to not carry cash, but that got me in trouble a few times. I now carry a small amount of cash, but I only use it when I have to or for very small purchases. I have both a debit card and a credit card. I pay off my credit card every month because I don't want to pay any interest.

I have read about how Sweden may be getting rid of cash entirely. Kind of interesting.

Yeah, it's not the credit cards are really that bad, just don't spend more on them than you can afford to pay off in one month and you'll never have issues.

I'm relatively young and have had credit cards for over a decade with decent limits, yet I've never paid credit card companies a cent of interest money because I don't spend more than I have and pay it off each month. It's not that big of a deal, just don't use your credit card more than you can afford to, and never put something on it if it will be more more than you can afford to pay off in one month.

I know I seem like a broken record here but it's not hard to do, I only use credit instead of cash because of the cardholder benefits and the ability to charge back if a merchant tries to rip me off.

I used to have a credit card with my old bank but that became an annoyance real fast, so when I switched to a credit union I decided to forego it. So now for most cases I use my debit card and I use cash for when I go to places like the flea market or garage sales.

I used to have a big debt problem but got it cleared up. Now I use cash or my debit card. I do have a small backup credit card for emergencies which actually came in handy this week. I needed to buy a plane ticket for an unplanned trip. The ticket was on Delta and for some reason they would not accept my Master Card debit card. I ended up using my backup Visa to buy the ticket. While trying to buy my return ticket, I found out why it wouldn't work. Apparently Master Card implemented some new security for on-line purchases that Delta doesn't do yet. Therefore they won't accept Master Card for on-line purchases. You can buy over the phone with a Master Card, for a $25 fee that is. Instead, I went with the other option they had, PayPal. Of course that was covered by my Master Card debit card that Delta won't take.

You laugh but there are crazy anti-government folks out where I live who will bargain better with silver than with cash. I could care less since I normally keep it on hand anyway, but a Morgan Silver dollar goes a long way when you're haggling with folks. For the wow factor alone, when you pull them out to strike a bargain people become a lot more cooperative (assuming they know what they are).
