If I tried to go for a complete collection of individual developer/publisher Renovation would be at the top of my list. I don't think I ever will though, and I'm fairly content content with having El Viento, Earnest Evans, Gaiares, Valis III and Whip Rush either boxed or complete for the Genesis. If I tripped over Elemental Master, Valis or Granada boxed in the wild I'd surely pick them up.

I've got Road Avenger and Time Gal on saved searches on ebay but I'm not paying the prices I've seen all year for them. I accidentally passed on Revenge of the Ninja earlier this year, a collector here in town asked me if I wanted it and I forgot to pick it up.

Lemme see, I've got Valis, Syd of Valis, Valis III, Road Avenger, El Viento, Whip Rush, Arcus Odyssey, Arrow Flash, Elemental Master, Exile, Final Zone, Gaiares, Granada, Master of Monsters, Traysia, and Ys III. All CIB.

Not sure why I ended up with so many, as they're mostly bad games. But I guess I like Renovation. I would go for the full set but Vapor Trail is a bitch to find CIB and I can't bring myself to but Sol-Deace when I already have Sol-Feace.

Nice work. I also just realized I had more Renovation titles than I thought. This is what retro-game collecting is all about, imo; compartmentalizing. How else are you going to enjoy it before you reach a complete Genny libary? I've been meaning to finish one of these for a while myself, together with a complete Genesis/CD RPG collection and a Data East collection. Data East is like the "RENOVATION" style collection everyone seems to forgets about. Data East, here I go.

    I pronounce it ガイアレス.

Guy-ah-rehs, I guess is as close as I can do it in writing without explaining Japanese pronunciation. I suppose saying "Guy-Ares (as in the god of war)" is pretty much correct.

There's no arguing with the lopsided-mullet man, or his scraggly "mustache."

I like how you tastefully removed my which indicated I was joking in the quote, I'll put in another for good measure so it's not lost this time

I actually pronounce it the first way you mentioned as well, but I had to bring up the mullet guy with the awesome shirt because that's one of my main memories of the game as a kid.

Sorry to derail your thread so much Johnny! But I love a lot of the titles from Renovation as well and have a fair number of them too, I like QuickSciFi's idea of doing a DataEast collection as well.

Well, if you bought them all new back in the day I would say around $2,000+
You guys remember how expensive Rennovation stuff was back then! I still bought a bunch of them anyways though so I guess it worked, lol

Just FYI, TelNet's (Renovation's original Japanese parent company before Renovation was absorbed by Sega in...94 in think) back catalogue was aquired by Sunsoft a few years ago. Probably with intent to release on the Wii VC. Vic Ireland reportedly had a hand in that process, and then it fell through (which is probably why Mr. Ireland is working with Monkey Paw now).

    Edit for clarity

Interesting, sounds like the kind of thing Vic would have a hand in. I'd love to have a bunch of them up to play on the VC.
