There's no pause button for Master System games!
The pause button is on the Master System console, I've seen a few attempts at routing it to the control pad but haven't seen one I'd want to attempt. The original Everdrive had this as a switch on the device itself, I think later ones he just left that part of the board present and asked that anybody who wanted one solder their own switch to it.
The file formats accepted by the everdrive are all of the same ones that emulators like Fusion use. I think only the Master Everdrive supports SG1000.
Must be in binary form, but for SMS games it needs to have the .sms extension so it knows how to flash it.
Since the Genesis VDP doesn't have SG-1000 modes, the Everdrive can't play it either..
The games do play but you can't see it.

Is there any real reason to get the Mega Everdrive if you have a reg one?

The potential for emulators and I think I read online play makes the Mega Everdrive tempting, the presence of save states makes me not want it at all.
Yeah should be possible to build a SG1000 pin adapter for Master System. Though only concept ideas have been passed around AFAIK, no units actually constructed to verify it works in practice.
Master Everdrive gets around that rom header check western consoles perform. The bios disable mod likely does also.
I loaded up Some SG1000 games on my Master Everdrive, they worked fine from what I can tell. Somebody said that the Master System messes up the colors of SG1000 games, but the ones I tried weren't bad at all. Pitfall II worked great, I need to remember to load that one up and play through it.
Sure it's off topic but I can't just drop this idea. Someone out there must have the technical skill, a need for my money, and desire to run SG1000 cartridges on their Master System.
Have you checked SMSpower? viletim makes expansion port adapters to play US Master System games on the Japanese Master System. That should give you universal compatibility. If you were to pick up a Japanese Master System you could play US and Japanese Master System games along with Mark III and SG1000, plus you would have the FM sound chip as well.
I want to explore new territory. This is something we believe can be done. Just no one's sat down to construct a prototype.
Besides AFAIK the Japanese Master System has less compatibility than my idea would offer finalized. I don't recall it having a way to run in English setting.
you don't have to wait for a rom to be erased/written in flash (mega-ED uses SDRAM to hold rom data and the load is 1-2secs max)
there is a good possibility of the SMS FM chip to be emulated on the FPGA so sms games that use it will sound awesome
there are save states and in-game-reset as an option for the games that work with it
and there is the possibility of more emulation cores running on the fpga and use the md for controls/power/display ...
other than that I can't think of anything more, I "upgraded" from the NeoMyth cart and I am very pleased with both the mega-ED and the neomyth one.
Also since the mega everdrive uses ram the cart will basically last forever. The original everdrive loads the game onto a flash chip and they can only be reflashed so many times before they stop working. A great example of a flash chip would be the chip in sonic 3 carts that holds the save data. My first sonic 3 cart the flash chip was dead, flash chips certainly don't last forever. The mega everdrive has all the potential for limitless longevity, also it's more powerful so it has more potential for future features.
