Please Help Me Get King Colossus to save properly with a MLB donor board?

Hey All,

I'm going nuts trying to figure out how to get a working copy of King Colossus going. I've been
able to burn the binary just fine and also play the game but anytime I save it won't save at all.
Not just the save not staying when I power off but it just doesn't save at all. Doesn't even register
on screen. It's like I didn't save at all?? I know it's possible to get this game to work as I see lots
of the reproduction sellers selling it cause everything I find on google is folks saying it won't save
on their everdrive or a repro seller saying they have them for sale. I've heard you have to add
a larger SRAM chip replacing the stock 8k the common sports titles come with and attaching A13 from
the SRAM to the EPROM but I must either have a broken rom or I'm just stupid cause I tried that already
too and it just didn't work.

Help a brother out and spill the beans would someone please?

Yes exacty that one. I'm looking to put it on a cart to play on real hardware.

It is definitely a SRAM related problem.

8KB SRAMs have 2x CE strobes and bigger ones usually don't and this requires more effort than just adding a bigger chip.

that means...

if you want burn a repro cart, it needs to support this games SRAM.
typical sports game carts aint gonna work for this game.

Do you have any suggestions of what donor I should be using? I've ordered a japanese copy which will tell all when it
arrives as I can just trace it out myself then but do to never learning the virtue of patience I'd rather know now how
to make it work rather than waiting for my copy to arrive from Japan

Well I got another board today that supports 32k of SRAM vs 8k and you are right there is additional logic to support it. I'll play around
and report back (good or bad...lol..)

Is there a table anywhere detailing the exact hardware used in all Genesis/MD games with savegame functionality? We have the list here as edited by A Black Falcon, but it doesn't list SRAM size and doesn't include Japanese games.

The game is now saving perfectly BUT modifications to how the RAM is handled in the program had to be made. If anyone is looking for the BIN just shoot me a PM and I will be glad to share. I have it sitting here and ready to burn to a 27c160 for your Colossal pleasure!
