Alright!
Got back from the computer store, it was the graphics card that went kaput like you said Tiido, and on my way home I noticed that one of the caps on the graphics card board has come off at one of the points. Eventually I'll solder than back on.
For now though I'm just going to install the OS with the integrated graphics on the motherboard and worry about the graphics card later.
The biggest problem right now is getting the hard drive formatted. I have a 120gb HDD and for some reason the format.com program won't extract to the floppy disk. Is there a way I can get it to run off the CD Drive?
UPDATE: Windows 98 is currently installing, HDD is formatting correctly. All I need to do now is fix the graphics card so that I can use it in another PC and then find an ATI card for this machine.
A mod should really move this thread to Tech Aid.![]()
KernelEx would be the very last thing to install !

Do you mean the onboard LAN/Ethernet adapter? Is the driver installed in device manager?
In that case you need the driver, no update is going to solve the problem. I would search online by the exact operating system and motherboard model. You actually need to know the exact Ethernet adapter that is built in to the board, from there the driver should be easy to find.
windows update for 98 has been closed down for months. Go download uSP3.something and install it instead, just make sure to pay attention to the checkboxes, it is not just next next next next install !

You should just make sure all the drivers are working properly before worrying about OS modifications. It sucks having to do things with a low resolution.
Awesome!
