    Default Rechargeable Batteries

    I tooka trip to Vegas last week, I charged my rechargeable batteries for back up..I didnt use them for week til I needed them, But there were dead when I needed them...

    I'm gueesing now you can't recharge rechargeable batteries keep them for a week they drain dead

    Depends on the type. Traditional Ni-MH batteries will self-discharge very quickly. They make special low self discharge ones now that hold slightly less, but last much longer when you're not using them.

    1 weeks seems much too short for even those though. It sounds more like your batteries are dying, or that you somehow stored them in a way that they shorted or something. I would expect them to take a couple months to die on their own.

    eneloops, the best money in rechargeable batteries I ever spent. I highly recommend those from personal experience, but there are other low self discharge brands like Jax mentioned

    Actually, 1 week is about right. My brand new Energizer rechargeables lose enough power in one week to not power my stuff. Remember that they don't have to lose ALL their power, just enough that what remains isn't enough for whatever you're using them in. Rechargeables have a lower voltage than regular batteries to begin with, so they don't need to lose much before most stuff quits working.
