Default I wanna do a hands on for the original Thunder Force game. HOW?

Like the title says I want to do this as I think it would be monumental for the site. I was looking for emulators as I think it's the only way I could do it. You guys got any recommendations?

I guess you're talking about the original Sharp X1-version?

I don't know about any emulators for that platform (unfortunately), but you could try the MZ-1500 version that was released the same year and supposedly is pretty much identical. There's a decent multiplatform-emulator with MZ-1500 support available here.

Or you could choose the NEC PC-88 port that was released a month later. PC-88 emulators and roms should be easier to come by. Just visit the Wikipedia entry on the NEC PC-8801 and then visit the very last link in the "External Links" section (don't know whether it's okay to directly link there, but you should be able to find your way around; be sure to scroll down to the very bottom of the page).

The funny thing about an oxymoron is, even if you remove the ox, there'll always be a moron. The Question Remains: Y?

It would be great to have an article on the original TF, but I think emulators are the best bet.

I'll have to look into the others you mentioned Phantar, the X1 seems impossible to find proper emulation for. Now I have to try to configure an emulator again as I haven't used one in eons!

X Millenium looks pretty good but is there a Thunder Force rom for it? I haven't found one yet and all of the sites that have only seem to have like a dozen roms listed or close to that. I'm really looking forward to doing this even despite the game not really sounding like it's going to be that great.

Has anyone ever made noises about porting the original TF to Genesis? There'd be a certain completist's satisfaction in that.
