Default Man Overboard (MD) vs. Sink or Swim (SNES)

It took me a long time to realize these were the same game. Which version is better? From an extremely cursory glance, it looks like the SNES version has better graphics and the MD version might have better music. But I'm not sure. I'm also wondering if there are any gameplay changes.

They're both the same game, levels and all. Graphically they look identical on both formats to me, but the Genesis music is vastly better than the SNES port.

I'd go with the Mega Drive version, which is European-only, I think. It's cheap though.

Ah - it's a Lemmings kinda game. Looks interesting... I always liked Lemmings.

A VS. thread, how nostalgic. I always get this game mixed up with SOS, a prince of persia style game where you have to escape from a sinking ship.

Using "genesis" outside US doesn't help.

By the way, I saw it on auction in Germany some days ago and IIRC it ended around 5 euros.

The Amiga version, released a year before the MD version (and 3 before the SNES one), had no music & sfx option:

Lemmings is a little tame compared to this game. I like the concept of the game. Has anyone managed to complete the game?

Pretty sure the SNES version has tons more parallax scrolling.

I've been playing this a bit, and have some questions:

GameFAQs (and a couple reviews) seem to indicate that the SNES version only gives a password every 5 levels, but I'm getting a password after every level in the Mega Drive version -- and there seems to be a 5:1 ratio in the levels to which they correspond, e.g. WARSAW takes me to Level 5 in Man Overboard, but Level 20 in Sink or Swim.

Anyone know how many levels Man Overboard has? Does it have 100 (or 99) unique passwords? Did they just decide to be more hard-ass in Sink or Swim, and force you to play through 5 levels at a time by cutting out 80% of the passwords?

EDIT: OK, I got to Level 8 (I think) and got a "NO PASSWORD" message for the first time. Ugh, I hate it when puzzle games artificially extend their length by forcing you to play through multiple consecutive levels before getting a password.

I think the European release of this game has one of the most ludicrous covers ever conceived, boasting in CAPITAL: 2 PLAYER OPTION!! as if it were the major selling point of the game, and it's an alternate 2P mode...
