Default Sega CDX advice on lens issue

So I have this Sega CDX with disc reading issues.

Looks like it has trouble moving the lens when jumping to a different track.

What I typically do before playing is I fire up the CD player and play audio sequentially (random play won't work). After about 30 mins of "warming up" the unit, then I can play (well, sometimes, depends on the game).

Do you think it's just a lubrication problem?

    Thanks.

Or maybe one of the motors is going bad.

yeah it could a dodgy stepper motor but to be honest if it is having difficulty reading data through the lens (faulty/dirty) you may get similar symptoms.

I don't think it's having difficulty reading data (off course I'm no expert). Some games like Sonic Megamix work fine every time, Snatcher works fine until it has to load a CDDA cutscene, Ground Zero TX is fine too.

If greasing was the issue. What product would you recommend to grease the assembly?

I believe the normal response here is white lithium grease.

Also, are you using originals discs or CDRs?

I think you can also use a small dab of sewing machine oil as well on the gears and such.

Thanks for the suggestions. I play mostly originals. The only backups I play would be Snatcher, Terminator and Sonic Megamix. I don't know what the previous owner did use.
